Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, February 02, 2017

Javier Baldovinos

Happy Thursday everyone! Baldo here reporting from Santana beach. Waves are waist to chest high with some a little bit bigger on the sets, and the winds continue making the water colder and colder (for Nicaragua standards).

It was kinda cloudy but when the sun was out the water just turned into this nice turquoise color making it really good for the photos.

It was hard to catch the waves because of the strong offshore but there were peaks everywhere! Little A-frames that most of the times were shared between two surfers.

My friend Jan was well prepared modeling a full wetsuit for the occasion. He was catching a lot of waves like this little peeler.

The water was so cold that some of the locals decided to stay on the sand to cheer at their friends. This guy spend like an hour deciding if it was worth it or not… he stayed dry.

As always Santana was offering some great rides allowing to do several turns on each waves.

This was the only barrel I saw right at the end of the session, he managed to come out of it clean and finished the wave with a nice floater.

Another A-frame, another couple of happy surfers.

Check out the sand on this photo, you can see the strong wind blowing across the beach and into the surf.

After the surf session I came to check out a house NSR is managing at Rancho Santana… not a bad view of the beach from the balcony, right? If you are interested in a carefree vacation in Nicaragua, check out the Vacation Rentals tab and pick the perfect house for you and your friends!
