Nicaragua Surf Report for Tuesday, February 02, 2016

Hello everybody and welcome back to the surf with NSR and Parker. Today, we scored an epic mid morning session! Make sure you keep scrolling down to check out our action.

The local boys and I shared a peak during the early morning. We wanted to continue the theme and show some love to the local rippers today!

Lesther Espinoza said he would take advantage of the wind and open faces. Check out his sequence!

No need to check and wave to me, Lesther. The camera is already on you...

Ahhh the offshore winds are a double edge sword! You'll have to trust my word because he stuck an air five feet in front of me earlier today.

Darwin loves the sandy point on our beach because he loves nailing his backside turns. He put on a clinic for us today.

His primo, Lenin, had something to say about Darwin's spray. This is why those two are Santana's best surf instructors.

Before sunset yesterday, a small WNW storm arrived. We enjoyed sets of shoulder high and blue water all morning.

Mr. Groundhog saw his shadow so an early spring was predicted. I see Lenin's shadow so I predict an early pumping season filled with tubes. Come visit and test my hypothesis!

Senor Fuerte was asserting his position in the line up. Again, you'll have to trust me, he had an sick tubito while I wasn't taking photos. How was your surfing at age 14?!?

On Saturday, a big group of us, including Lesther, went to Gigante for the live music. Here is a highlight of his dance moves.

To be a faithful journalist, his dances moves actually looked like this...

While I was changing locations (and recalling Armando's knowledge of our local birds), I noticed this amigo. The vibrant red flowers bloom early January and are eaten by early February.

Sorry buddy, if you're looking for a juicy sausage, egg, and chese biscuit with a tall glass of whole milk, you might need to look elsewhere... If you find out where, let me know.

Team Shapeshifter and Junior ISA competitors joined the party. Welcome hermanos!!

Oscar quickly bounced back after a knee injury and is ripping once again. Similar to his favorite rapper, Juicy J, he didn't miss a beat!

And he wasn't going to allow his older brother Lesther to steal the airtime on today's report. Yeah buddy!!

Kevin Cortez paddled to the main peak to snag every right. He knows this wave well, especially the importance of cutbacks to stay in position.

He used his speed and power to jam the oncoming section. For a regular footer phenomenal with great rail game, he is the Nicaraguan Mick Fanning.

Jackson Obando is Kevin's best bro and fellow rider for Shapeshifter, NICA Time, and Stickybumps. For Jackson's fluid style and airs, we will tag him as Owen Wright (minus the long hair and regular foot).

You probably have seen an absurd amount of pelicans diving for bait fish lately. Because our water temperature is dropping, small fish swim to shore seeking warmer temperatures. Roberto (El Buchon), hops on the train and is going to catch lunch with his handline.

Surfing the proper peak today felt similar to Jaws: tough paddles, later drops, blinding offshore spray, high speeds, and better rights than lefts.

Lesther saw a backdoor opportunity and pounced on it. Do you think he makes it?...

One messy exit and a big smile after says yes!!

Once the tide maxed out, the waves started slowing down. Mr. Obando still made something out of nothing.

And Darwin still picked off lefts to rip. Maybe that's why those two guys have boards filled with stickers...

Alright guys and gals, I hope you liked today's local report! Thank you for checking us out and go catch a couple gems for yourself. Adios amigos!!
