Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, June 29, 2017

Javier Baldovinos

The swell is here! The sandbars are shaped thanks to the last couple of weeks’ rain so, if you are thinking about taking a Nicaragua surf trip, you are wasting your time thinking, just come now!

Javier Baldovinos

I went early in the morning right at high tide and just a few surfers were there. Solid 4-6 ft waves rolling down the beach, the surf conditions were not so clean but there were plenty of waves to pick from.

Javier Baldovinos

The direction of this swell is not the right one for first peak to work the way everyone like, but Candido Quedo was having a great time there.

Javier Baldovinos

I met this guy on the beach, he’s name is Peter (didn’t get his last name). He was killing it and his photographer probably has some really good proof of it.

Javier Baldovinos

Going left the barrels were long and fast and a lot of the times it was hard to catch them, even if you started running on the water.

Javier Baldovinos

But it doesn’t mean it could not be done. The same guy from last photo but this time locked in position and ready to get some cover.

Javier Baldovinos

And what a nice cover he got!

Javier Baldovinos

A few frames later and he is still in there.

Javier Baldovinos

A few more frames and he’s out and clean.

Javier Baldovinos

Here is Peter getting barreled (and photographed).

Javier Baldovinos

He had to go through the chandelier created by his photographer.

Javier Baldovinos

And then a really nice, powerful bottom turn…

Javier Baldovinos

… to finish the wave with a nice snap throwing the fins out the back.

Javier Baldovinos

So much momentum but he had great control the whole time!

Javier Baldovinos

There was only one girl out, he was in the same group with Peter and the photographer, and he was also ripping.

Javier Baldovinos

She was going for some big waves! and the photographer always in a good position.

Javier Baldovinos

I finally met Alex from Puerto Rico, I thought he was just another one week tourist but after seeing him here every day for the last few months I wanted to meet him and get his name for the report.

Javier Baldovinos

Alex is always out there at first peak doing some crazy maneuvers. Nice meeting you Alex!

Javier Baldovinos

Of course, there were many barrels without an exit, once inside there was no way out.

Javier Baldovinos

The perfect man’s cave.

Javier Baldovinos

Sometimes after the drop, you had to hit the breaks to be able to get barreled.

Javier Baldovinos

And that's exactly what this guy did to get under the lip.

Javier Baldovinos

A little bit deeper.

Javier Baldovinos

And just to make sure, he picked inside the barrel to see it.

Javier Baldovinos

And then... Whack!

Javier Baldovinos

The best barrel goes to Peter, check him out finding his line.

Javier Baldovinos

Look how deep he is!

Javier Baldovinos

He totally dissapeared under there.

Javier Baldovinos

To finally coming out with a spit. Nice one!

Javier Baldovinos

Alex didn't get a big barrel but he got a big air! (My back hurts just by looking at him)

Javier Baldovinos

One last sequence of Peter...

Javier Baldovinos

Tomorrow it stays the same, 4-6 ft, with offshore winds and clear waters.

Javier Baldovinos

Again, if you are thinking about coming, STOP thinking and just DO IT!

Javier Baldovinos

Tomorrow it's Friday so, that means surf all day and party all night! See you tomorrow!

Javier Baldovinos

If you are dying to come to Nicaragua but don't have any money to travel, or to get a vacation rental house on the beach, this is your opportunity... and you are helping a good cause!
