Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, April 04, 2018

Carl NSR

Whattup people! We hollering at ya from another sunny hump day in Southern Nicaragua. The swell is continuing to hold from yesterday with sets in the overhead range at standout spots. Winds are out of the ESE producing a slight side shore chop at more exposed breaks and light grooming at others. Water temps are steadily climbing back into comfortable range with the wind is starting to back off, signaling the beginnings of a shift in season.

This south swell showed up with a pretty strong period and the beach breaks are a little walled limiting options a bit. This guy is contemplating his paddle out options and trying to determine where the best corners are at.

Carl NSR

With these conditions speed and quickness is essential in making the most of long walls riddled with sections.

Carl NSR

This guy has the highline to speed pump technique dialed. With few exits to the barrel he's looking for that end section maneuver.

Carl NSR

They were few and far between this morning, but when someone did manage to nab a quick tube it was a right hander like this one.

The view from the beach back to the Playa Colorado beach club. There's no better place in Nica to watch all the beach break action from.......

.....or to fuel up after a long surf. Pili's Kitchen serves up some high grade breakfast, lunch, dinner and happy hour fare on the coast. Her special brand of Mediterranean/Nicaraguan cuisine is one of the perks of life at the beach here. And we do so love sipping on french pressed rocket fuel coffee and getting ready for another go out.

I happened to catch up with Cesar "Nam Buddy" from the market after his morning session on the twinny. He said he didn't get much but another full timer John "Log Rip" Gillem scored one of the cleanest waves of the morning right behind him.

Carl NSR

John slid past the first bowl and pig-dogged the giant log right into the inside section.

Carl NSR

....and yeah he made it.

As I was packing up the gear I got an Hola Shaka from neighbor and friend to the Report DJ Zymkowitz as he was wrapping up his session. He and partner Nacho "Brushetta" Antonacci are another reason Playa Colorado has become a great family vacation destination. Their business Iguana Surf School is offering up a great kids camp service that families are raving about.
