Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, April 05, 2018

Javier Baldovinos

Hello everyone, welcome to Thursday’s surf report from Santana beach. The waves were pumping in the morning so it was time to go for a ride.

Javier Baldovinos

Peaks were appearing up and down the beach, most of them gone unridden because it was still early and just a few surfers were out in the water.

Javier Baldovinos

Most of the lefts were long and hollow, which means vertical drops on most of them.

Javier Baldovinos

And if you made the drop, then this is the kind of stuff you could do on every wave.

Javier Baldovinos

You could also do this… find a high line and get covered for a while!

Javier Baldovinos

Here is a good example of the big vertical drops we saw this morning.

Javier Baldovinos

And what came after right away.

Javier Baldovinos

Look at this empty wave waiting for anyone to take it. Long hollow lefts and short rights.

Javier Baldovinos

Farther north the waves were a little bit softer, fatter, especially the rights.

Javier Baldovinos

This right doesn’t look that short though, what do you guys think?

Javier Baldovinos

Check this guy out, having some serious turns on this right, they were not that soft as they seemed.

Javier Baldovinos

How about a nice barrel on a right? This is a scene that we don’t see that often here at Santana.

Javier Baldovinos

Our friend Renato came to have some fun with the waves here at Santana, he is usually at Popoyo but it was probably not as good as Santana.

Javier Baldovinos

Left or right? It’s all about being on the right spot.

Javier Baldovinos

There a few guys that know very well this break and they seem to be always at the right spot at the right time.

Javier Baldovinos

But as we all know, it’s not just be at the right spot and at the right time… it’s mainly know how to read the waves and be able to move your body the right way to get right where you want to be.

Javier Baldovinos

And if someday, something too big comes our way… just follow this arrow really fast. Saludos!
