Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, August 30, 2019

Brian Scott

Hello surf fans! Well, it’s that’s time again… time to kick off another weekend party of surf and fun in the sun. Always bringing you the goods from sunny southern Nicaragua.

Brian Scott

Even though we’re only about 48 hours shy of kicking it into full gear for September (which happens to be one of our most joyous months of the year for surf) I’m happy to let you know that the waves were firing in the 3-5 foot range all day today.

Brian Scott

My new amigo, Mateo, was one of the lucky ones out there while I had my lens pointed in his direction.

Brian Scott

Or maybe I should be saying, I was one of the lucky ones to be out there shooting while he was ripping!

Brian Scott

Never underestimate the small surf here. It can be some of the most fun waves you’ve ever surfed.

Brian Scott

Because if this were say southern Ca, there’d be about 100 + people in the lineup, easily. Lucky for Mikey, there were only about 20 people.

Brian Scott

Oscar is a well rounded surfer on any size here! 100%

The sand bars were working from each end of the playa today.

So great to see my amiga and one of the other awesome surfing moms Lindsey out there today.

Nice turn chica!!!

I don’t think I saw Ryan at the recent “White Party” at Malibu Popoyo, which hosted some of the best music I’ve heard in Nicaragua for a while; but I can tell you one thing….. he’s gotta have some pretty sick dance moves!

Brian Scott

On a serious note though, he loves this wave as it’s been his home for a few years now. You might have even enjoyed some of his delicious Mexican cuisine as he was the mastermind behind Vana Tacos and he dabbled a bit in the shaping and ding repair world as well and has fixed many a broken tablas for many people here. If this is indeed your last year here, I solute you hermano! But I know you’ll be coming back.

Brian Scott

If you have a drone, or are planning on bringing (smuggling one in) you might be pretty bummed to know that now you cannot fly it here at all thanks to the new GPS firmware from DJI and the new “red zone” that won’t even allow your drone to operate being that we’re in the path of a real working airport that bring live human beings here safely. I’m not a fan of restrictions, however, you know there’s aways that “ONE” person who will mess things up. So until then we’ll keep the flying low and under the radar like Oscar’s doing here. (**this has been your friendly drone update from yours’ truly!) :)

Here’s your official kickoff for the weekend!!!  Enjoy ~
