Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, August 30, 2017

Parker NSR

Happy Humpday everybody!! This is Parker checking in for some midweek action. The surf is fun so click “read more!”

Parker NSR

I arrived at the beach for the morning light and rising tide. I was happy to find this and a super fun session afterwards!

Parker NSR

We still have good swell in the water. The groundswell is on it’s way out and Hurricane Harvey is affecting us. I went to sleep last night wondering what the beach break was going to look like…

Parker NSR

But there weren’t a ton of gaping open barrels. By late morning, the tide was full and the onshores kicked in. Still, not a bad morning with tons of peaks working, huh?

Parker NSR

I saw a handful of guys, two guys each on green boards especially, laying down some serious rail work. Lots of corners waiting to be schralped.

Parker NSR

With the shorter period swell, you’d think the waves would be extremely peaky. That combined with the leftover SSW provided a fun mixed interval. So yes, plenty of peaks working (3 for sure) but still some lines to be had and packing a few turns per wave. Whatever Mother Nature throws at us, stay with NSR so we can put you on the best surf.

And plenty of untouched gems too.

Changing gears for a second, our friends at Surfari Charters have been fishing their faces off lately. Last week featured a huge marlin with our Philly crew. Then, they hooked this beast yesterday (with the help of Pirate Rob at Colorline). Beautiful fish and good work amigos.

Parker NSR

Those boys like to have fun… Good stuff Lance and Jeff!! If the conditions align and they’re available, we’ll be stoked to send you on the Va Pue for a day. SUBU!!

Parker NSR

We know this isn’t the normal weather pattern for Southern Nicaragua. Once Harvey moves away and the pressure normalizes, the winds will turn offshore (and the barrels will open back up).

Parker NSR

Although we, and Surfari, want to go fish, we hope the wind changes and the hurricane moves out of here. To our friends in Texas and Louisiana, stay safe and hang tight! Thoughts, prayers, and good vibes for you guys and we hope all is well/recovering.

Parker NSR

While the winds aren’t offshore and the wave is sectioning, why not huck an air?!

Parker NSR

This doesn’t look like the normal groomed barreling line, does it? But hey, this is almost as much fun to surf peaky waves for a couple of days.

Parker NSR

My buddy Luke is still stoked. 1. Because he has been getting way better waves than his friends in Florida and 2. Because he’s showing me how to turn at the top of the wave!!!!

Parker NSR

Alright, last shot, maybe this weather needs to clear up ASAP and get back to normal…….

Parker NSR

Until then, Ben and I are still going to surf (and maybe play some golf later too). Thank you everybody for staying tuned to our reports! Let’s see what the surf looks like tomorrow so check back with us.
