Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, July 01, 2023

Josh S

Hola, hola viewers! I hope you’ve all been having a great weekend. Today’s surf was very similar to yesterday morning’s, small but hollow on the sets. Ignacio and Gizelle checking out the breakfast menu today :)

Josh S

The wind was quite light this morning, which helped the tubes stay open as they rolled through. Even the adults were able to tuck in on the larger sets as seen here. Nicely done Señor.

This gentleman was an elemental maestro. Not only did he sneak into some tubitos, but he was showing his competent flight skills as well.

Josh S

The little blonde chica from yesterday morning was back in action again today. We likely had more South in the swell today, given the majority of the better waves were lefts instead of rights. She did well to adapt to the change in swell direction and sharpen her pig-dog skills.

Josh S

Speaking of pid-dogging… I like how this surfer is tilting his head forward while riding through the tube. I often try to do this on small days in an effort to prevent the lip from clipping my head.

Josh S

Our style award of the day goes to this gentleman. He executed a smooth (and strong) under the lip hook. I’m jealous of how low he was able to keep his arms through this turn.

Josh S

The little chica found one of the only rights of the morning! I could tell that she prefers surfing frontside to surfing backside, so I bet she was appreciative of this rare right runner.

Josh S

The elemental master showing off his rail game for us spectators as well. Tube, Air, and Rail, the whole shebang. I wonder if he rides for Mayhem or Lost?

Josh S

No one makes every drop they commit to though! This one got away from our surfer. It was a good wave, but it’s better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all. Maybe they got to work on their body surf game mid-wipeout here?

Josh S

That wraps up Saturday morning’s surf action. Thanks for checking in everyone and I hope you’ve still been enjoying the surf action despite the smaller than usual conditions. The weather has been beautiful, so I've seen plenty of kids and families out on the beach soaking it all in. Tomorrow should be a bit bigger than today AND I’ll be passing the surf report baton to a new, mystery legend tomorrow. You’ll definitely have to check back in to see his opening report from paradise here in Iguana.
