Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, June 30, 2023

Josh S

Friday surf report time! There were some fun little waves at Colorados this morning. The 10 to 15 surfers in the water had their chances at the only barrels which rolled through today.

All you party animals and cruise fanatics better watch out! This guy would smoke all of y’all at the limbo haha! I don’t think he could’ve compressed any more on this mini-nugget.

This morning’s conditions were pretty ideal for GoPro mouth clips. Hollow enough to get some decent footage, and long enough gaps between the sets to make it back out with relative ease.

This gentleman looks to be practicing up for the larger surf we should be getting next week. His form and style here is great! He just needed a couple more feet of wave face and a little more zip from the barrel.

This little chica was on a tear this morning. I’d say she tied the limbo long-boarder for first place today. She locked in nicely on this one and did a good job of pointing her lead hand out toward the exit.

Josh S

And the Lord said, “Today they shall do the limbo.” LOL. The surf was pretty tiny today, but the waves were still really hollow at the lower tide this AM. I don’t think our hero here got as low as the limbo long-boarder, but he’s coiled up tight here like a cobra!

The little chica clocking some more time behind the curtain. She did a good job of digging her right hand into the wave-face on the drop, which lead to her slowing down for some shade (not that the sun was strong yet).

BAM! This guy takes the award for best turn of the day. I used this frame of the sequence because his posture looks best here, but in the later frames of this sequence he blew the lip high enough that it looked like a small volcano eruption.

Ahhhhh, I love the blue-raspberry jolly rancher color that we sometimes get at Colorados! When you lock into a tube with this coloration, you feel like you’re on a different planet. Our little chica did well to find this gem! It was likely one of the cleanest and crispiest waves of the morning.

Josh S

Not all of the crispy, clean tubes had riders this morning though! It always seems like a few perfect waves slide past or wide of everyone right when they least expect it (this is a regular phenomena I observe when my patience has run thin while I’m surfing haha).

Josh S

Everyone seemed to be smiling, laughing, and enjoying themselves today in our small but clean conditions. That’s exactly how it should be on a Friday in our slice of paradise. That’s all of today’s action and I’ll see y’all again tomorrow for more! The swell is supposed to bump up slightly, so hopefully more tube-time for our stylish visitors :)
