Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, June 17, 2017

Brian Scott

Hey everyone, welcome to the super soggy sábado surf report. That’s right, it’s been rain, rain and more rain. Which is a good thing if we all want good fertile land, drinking water and believe it or not, better surf (in this case sand bars).  So put on your galoshes and maybe a rain coat and lets go for a spin through the neighborhood and see what’s happening.

Brian Scott

I got down to the beach today to find NOBODY out surfing… and for good reason too! Look at that mess. Better to just stay in and take a few days of R&R.

Brian Scott

Much of the land around here is super saturated and small kine flooding here and there. Heck maybe grab a SUP and cruise the golf course on one of those!

I thought I should head up the road and see what was happening at the North end of our beach and came across this unfortunate incident. After I saw about 15 local guys trying vigorously to help this poor woman who had gotten stuck by accident; I figured they just might need to call Triple OX, Nica’s version of triple A or as we know it back in the states AAA. Seriously, they’ll come out probably tomorrow with a couple of Ox attached to a pull cart and they’ll pull this thing back to safety using that genius method. Simple life equals simple solutions.

I pulled up to our other vantage point of our other well known break yet wasn’t surprised to also see that no one had bothered to paddle out there either. Skunked all the way around, for me at least in terms of trying to get any surfing action today.

I was however curious to see how the river on our Northern most end of our beach was faring.

and to no surprise, she was a flowing a plenty up this way as well.

Brian Scott

Yuck! No thanks! But still kinda memorizing to watch in person.

Bobby McFerrin ultimately said it best and it actually doesn’t hurt to think about that melody with a day like today… “Don’t worry, be happy!”

Brian Scott

No break or light from these stormy days on the horizon, but I promise, we’ll be back to normal here very soon!

Brian Scott

Nicaragua doesn’t have beavers, not that I’m aware of? But this spot in one of the places where the fresh water was flowing into the ocean reminded me of something a beaver would make.

Brian Scott

Look a micro waterfall. Please pray for waves!!! SOOOON!!!

Brian Scott

I actually saw some locals out today.

Brian Scott

No, not the land dwelling kind. Just these high flying pelicans cruising along the coast probably looking for some good fish to eat.

Brian Scott

That’s all I’ve got for today my friends. Very lackluster in terms of surfing, but sometimes it’s good to just cruise around the neighborhood and see some of mother natures other miracles. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday and hopefully maybe tomorrow we’ll see some surfing if the water cleans up a little bit and we get a break in the rain. Hasta pronto ~
