Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, April 09, 2021

Brian Scott

Happy Friday everyone! We had some small but super fun BUT extremely super HOT sunny weather today. I think we’re all so used to those hollowing offshore winds, that it was so calm today, that the heat was a quick reminder of how hot this place usually really is. Hey…. at least the water’s warming back up! YEY ~

Brian Scott

What do you do when you only have an hour or less for a quick surf sesh?

Brian Scott

You be like Barry and turn and burn right to the water and catch as many waves as possible!

Brian Scott

Or you can also turn and burn like Derek here on his mini twinny.... SICK ONE BRAH!!!

Brian Scott

Now that the water’s warming back up, I bet it’s nice for everyone to be wearing less neoprene and get back to wearing what we all live for down here. Regular swim/surf attire.

Brian Scott

Tony certainly had the right call of the board choice for the day….

Brian Scott

That’s so he could do moves like this! And yet he makes it looks so seamless. Yah buddy!!!

Brian Scott

Check out them conditions!!!! Sheet glass (small) but super duper clean and fun conditions.

Brian Scott

There’s always a lot of stuff going on in the background around this place. Good thing I only have a surf report to do and not a day in or of the nightlife of this place….. I don’t think I’d never stop working!

Brian Scott

I’ll still never loving watching this any day of the week. No matter if it’s work, or play.

Brian Scott

Derek always experimenting and stretching his surfing possibilities with different wave riding vehicles. Looks like todays choice was a pretty good decision and was working well!

Brian Scott

This unknown dude not only showing us a pretty nice and stylish backside bottom turn, but the fact that he’s not wearing a rashy proves how warm is was out there today.

Brian Scott

Surfline imitating bird life. Or maybe the other way around? all I know is both the bird and this hombre are having a pretty good time around noon.

Brian Scott

This one goes waaaaaay beyond dropping the wallet. He’s straight dropping the whole fanny pack! Jaja

Brian Scott

Like I said, was small, BUT super fun and always so rippable!

Brian Scott

This kid came out right as I was about to pack it up.

Brian Scott

Good thing for him that I stayed just a little while longer. He got some pretty sick little waves…. and he made the NSR surf report in doing so!

As you all know, I like to plug little things here and there around here, but this is on more of a serious but absolutely much needed acknowledgment on so many levels! For those who are not familiar with the beaches around here and the pretty recent happenings with the very valiant efforts being made possible by Nica Heartbeat and many other wonderfully helpful people around here, here’s a quick l shoutout to the people who make this place one of if not the safest beaches in all of Nicaragua. Kudos to Carlos, Lesther and Oscar for their recent rescues and everyone else who is making it possible to even have lifesaving capabilities at one of the best beaches here on the Emerald Coast.

Here is an update @Semana Santa and our Beach Patrol. It was recently reported that Semana Santa had 23 deaths by drowning in Nicaragua. I’m very happy to report none of those were at Hacienda Iguana Beach. Our Beach Patrol stayed extremely busy the entire week! Our stats are the following:

Preventative calls*- 10 warnings Near drownings/rescues^- 4 lives Moving and placing red, rip current flags-all day as our rips can change location. *A preventative call is a warning to people entering a rip current zone and then suggesting a better place to swim. ^A near drowning were people caught in a rip no longer able to swim in on their own. Equipment used for rescue. While we are not lifeguards yet, I’m extremely proud of our boys and their dedication to making our beaches safer. Having them and Dra Jackeline Karolina Toribio is making our community one of the safest to live or visit!

Many ask how to help (and it doesn’t always have to be with money) ✅Make a sandwich and deliver to Beach Patrol so they don’t leave their post ✅ Volunteer an hour so boys can have a break.

Or because we do rely 💯 on your donations: 💥Make an automatic monthly $5(or more donation) on PayPal via Nica Heartbeat 💥Donate to our Barbara Lancaster Memorial Fund via paypal (write in notes Barbara) 💥Attend our April 25th 🤩 in The Sun fundraiser at Pili’s. If you can’t attend, buy a dinner for a local to attend. 💥Buy raffle tickets (you don’t have to be present to win)

While the HOA graciously is helping keep our Farmacia Iguana up and running, we need donations to maintain our Beach Patrol. *all donations are tax deductible https://www.nicaheartbeat.com/ donate Please send any comments including constructive criticism to Megan Mack Lachi (+1-760-271-5977) We can only grow with +/- feedback.
