Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, April 02, 2018

Javier Baldovinos

Hey everyone, welcome to Monday’s surf report from Santana beach. Semana Santa is over now, which means here at the beach everything is back to normal.

Javier Baldovinos

Today is probably the worst Monday for the majority of the Nicaraguan population (and probably all Latin America!) because of the way most of the people “celebrate” Easter Week. This guy is an exception… he is having a great Monday surfing first peak.

Javier Baldovinos

After spending 4 or 5 days at the beach partying and drinking, sun-tanning and barely sleeping, going back to work today has to be miserable. This boogie boarder doesn’t look that miserable after finding some little shade to get away from the sun.

Javier Baldovinos

Just yesterday the beach was packed. Everyone from the near-by communities came to play on the sand, swim in the ocean, loud music everywhere, drinking like there is no tomorrow… but tomorrow came and now it’s time to relax again at the beach with nobody around.

Javier Baldovinos

The only people around were surfers coming in and out of the water, checking out the waves, chatting about their last best wave or planning where to paddle out now.

Javier Baldovinos

Another good thing about today Monday is that the winds died down a lot, allowing the waves to be a little bit glassier and clean. The only down side… the water spray created by every turn look smaller now.

Mario Martinez was out today, happy about Semana Santa being over and because of the good waves today. It’s the first time I see him not surfing a shortboard, he was testing a funboard.

Javier Baldovinos

As you can see on the right corner here, Mario was having a hard time controling that funboard, definitely not used to be riding different boards. On the other hand, the kid coming on the left had full control of his board.

Javier Baldovinos

What’s Up Mario? Time to switch boards? Go get them!

Javier Baldovinos

Etienne came to the beach looking all happy too. Mondays are great here at Santana, right Etienne?

Javier Baldovinos

Now he is definitely Happy after catching a small barrel on a Monday!

Javier Baldovinos

Ohh so lovely… seeing a couple sharing what they love the most. I’m so happy for them, especially for her because that was a great wave!

Javier Baldovinos

There is no point of fighting for a wave (especially with your couple!) when there are tons of good ones coming a few minutes later.

Javier Baldovinos

Dennis from Meson Nadi was out too. I bet he was eager to surf after a busy week full of guests and events.

Javier Baldovinos

I hope you all had a great Monday just like us here at Santana. Looks like tomorrow will be an even better day because the waves will be a little bigger at the 3-5 feet range. Saludos!
