Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, December 20, 2020

Brian Scott

Cheers for Sunday Fundays… because today was another one of them! Mother nature starting to make we as surfers migrate (which is normal for this time of year) north. The reef, today was looking as inviting and as fun all at the same time in the tardy afternoon.

Fresh wax (check), leash - optional (check), looking for the best peak (which there were a plenty) CHECK! Now jump in and go get some fun waves!!!

The one thing I missed the most about the entire 2020 surfing season was being able to go to all the other surf spots that I would normally go with all the traveling surfers who would hire me out between around March to September (our normal busiest peak season).

Brian Scott

That being said, there was a lot to be grateful for (despite all the stuff we could go on and on for days that wasn’t so great) but I’m certain every nook and cranny along this pristine coast had it’s fair share of truly blown away surfers, young and old who felt like this place took a time travel back about 10 or 20 year, in surfing popularity years for this place.

Brian Scott

Part of the migration of surf spots will inevitably include every single surfer within a 50 mile stretch of coastline.

Even Dario, who prides himself in surfing any and almost any wave within a good day trip driving distance. He’s one of the few who will still surf Panga Drops when Colorados is “The Firing Wave” of any given peak season swell.

I had heard they had a pretty legit national competition held over at Popoyo a couple days ago. I have a feeling this kid was probably in it.

Brian Scott

Uri is from a little ways up north and he was throwing together a few nice little combination of waves out there this evening.

Brian Scott

Yeaaaaah, like this. Nice surfing out there today hermano!

Every surfer knows (OR SHOULD KNOW) that the person sitting deeper inside (or closer to the breaking park of the the wave) always has the priority to go on said wave. Everyone who surfs also knows that feeling when you’ve been sitting for a while, waiting for a good wave to come to you and the one person who’s sitting deeper and the wave comes to them and they take off and you so badly want to paddle for it anyways….. ugh, well, you all know what I’m talking about. But it is what it is.And if you’re a good surfer who respects the rules, the karma comes right back to you, eventually.

Like his wave Aga got right on the next set. Like they say….. patience is a virtue! :)

Colins number one, or in this case 3 pack of number 1 fans, watching Papa doing his thing while they all watch with great intensity….!

Brian Scott

Papa Colin, of course never disappoints and he always does his best to give his biggest fans a superb show, of course when I asked Ryder (Colins oldest little one) where’s daddy, she said with complete pride and happiness…. “He’s surfing”!!!!

Brian Scott

And as you can see….. they all throw 100% for every wave he catches! jeje

Brian Scott

Andy getting super dialed in with his newly acquired backyard (or is it front yard????) wave. Either way, he’s stoked to have his new home at the most perfect time of the year….. I’m sure his beach from home will be frequented quite a bit from everyone, once we see Colorados die down for the slow season.

Brian Scott

Epic sunsets here can never be overhyped or over rated. They are always uniquely beautiful each and every single day! And with that I wish you all a good evening ~
