Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, November 20, 2008

Lucha and Jairo will be back later with today's surf report.  In the meantime, we wanted to put up this shot that was sent in by our good friend Matt H., a real life king crab fisherman up in Alaska (Anybody seen "Deadliest Catch"?).  Matt came down to Nicaragua and spent some time with NSR last surf season.  He is one of the only people in the world who spends as much time on the water as we do at NSR and we've got to hand it to him for making a living fishing crab.  Gnarly!  Good stuff Matt, that thing is enormous!!!  Keep the photos coming...

Check back later for today's surf report.

Hi there, we are Lucha Libre and Come Pan bringing you the action from the beach at Playa Maderas.  The waves were small and there weren’t many people out because is cold out there.  We actually only had two guys out in the line up trying to get some waves and a bunch of beginners on the inside doing their best to catch a couple.  It was running about knee to waist high on sets, the water was chilly and we had super strong offshore winds.  Everybody wanted to stay out of the water and be around the nicest place on the beach.

We want to give a special shout out to our good friends from Piece Passers.  The super duper COOPER family flew in Nicaragua like two days ago and now there are planning to do a soccer clinic to help out the kids down here in San Juan del Sur.  Here we have a shot of the three “Sardinitas” and a friend so stoked to be part of NSR once again.

There were a couple of sneaker sets coming through today but we think the guys were not expecting to see this kind of wave on a day like today.  Here we have shot of the biggest set wave we saw.

This is Caleb “El Pescadito” Cooper having the best drink in town “Tequila Nica”.  If you ever come down and meet the NSR Boys ask them for this drink because it is really good and it is not expensive.  By the way, Caleb is so happy because his family is down here and decided to have a couple shots that he called “The Poison” we are not sure why he calls it that.

Last night we worked all night long to have this pig ready for a huge party we are having tomorrow night.  We are planning to have a BBQ and see how tasty this little guy really is.  We will be sure to let you know.

On the last shot of the day we have Manuel “La Bellota” Cascante.  He was the only local surfer out this morning and he was catching all the best waves.  Here we caught him riding a small but nice looking right.  The swell is supposed to be the same for the next few days so maybe if the water stays clear we will go spear fishing soon.
