Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Hi folks, we are the NSR family bringing you the surf report for Wednesday.  The waves were super small again today with onshore winds.  It is running knee to waist high and the water is murky.

There were a few guys taking advantage of the nice weather that we had and enjoying some beach volleyball.  The sun hasn’t been out to much this month and it was nice to have a full day of sunshine.

After taking a few pictures around town this morning we decided to head outside of town to one of the bigger rivers to see if we could find some shrimp.  We took a few of the local guys with us to show us how it is done.  From left to right we have “Allan”,” Codo”, “Kambute” and “David”, these guys have been doing this for years and it was very cool to watch them do their thing.

Here is Kambute showing us the rewards of his skills and knowledge of the river with one of the many shrimp that we caught today.  It looks like we are going to have a sweet feast tonight, thanks guys.

This is “Codo” showing us how it is done.  What you do is find little sloped banks in the river and scratch at the holes that the shrimp bury themselves in, then they run out and you stab away, it was definitely a cool way to spend the day. We did a lot of laughing and had a blast.

For our last shot of the day we have “Codo” again, this time he is in a little bit deeper part of the river  trying to lure the shrimp out of their holes with a little worm, needless to say he didn’t have very much luck.  Please check back with us tomorrow to see what else we can come up with.  We are supposed to get a new swell Friday or Saturday and the winds are forecasted to go back offshore.   We will wait and see, we are definitely due for some good waves.
