Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, September 14, 2008

Hey guys, welcome to the Sunday surf report, this is Jairo reporting from Maderas beach. Today was a lot of pleople spedding the day on the beach because of the holiday, The waves were super fun, .  It was running about chest to shoulder high on sets, the wind was off shore making it a pretty Sunday.  Check it out!

This is Norwin “El Chulin” Estrella bottom turning on a good sized left. He caught some awesome waves today and came out with a huge smile on his face. The day was perfect for long turns with style. SICK!

Here is Daniel from California slashing the wave. Check that turquoise color, you could see all the way to the bottom it was so clear! Daniels was scoring on the swells today, he’s going to be spending a lot more time here to catch all San Juan Del Sur has to offer.

tere were a couple guys out there surfing and shredding it up today, but not Mr. Tom “El Viejo Pelon” Everly. Tom like to spend his life down here because he love this place and he likes to supports the local surfers giving them some presents.  He caught some fun in the sun today, drank some beers, got some color, showed off his rockin’ bod, and played volleyball with his amigos. Sweet spike Bro!

Here we have Cody from Surf City, North Carolina. Seriously, that’s the name of the place! Anyway, Cody’s been a beach bum here for a while; he’s turning into one of the locals. This is him catching a nice, clean barrel on a sweet Sunday. Not a bad life.

This weekend, San Juan is PACKED with people from all over Nicaragua here to see the weekend activities for Independence Day. There’s music, dancing, and partying no wonder everyone wants to be here! Not to mention the waves…  Here is a shot of the parade. There were drums, dancing, and cool costumes, and beautiful ladies.

Here are some of the school girls dancing in the parade. They are wearing the national colors and showing their love for Nicaragua!

Here is a shot of the drummer boys/girls from the parade showing their spirit. some of them were sporting surfing stickers on their drums, including NSR stickers! This year NSR sponsered Gerson Ramos, providing him with his drum so he can participate in the parade. Check the hang loose signs; you know there are some rippers in that  crew.

Everything is green and lush here in Nicaragua. The wildlife here is also vibrant with bright colors. Here’s a butterfly that landed by me today, it’s pretty rare to see one so close that you can see all the colors and patterns. I really get to appreciate all the diversity of wildlife living in one of the most beautiful countries in the world! Suppose us going to have some good waves tomorrow, please check with us tomorrow.  Come Pan out!!
