Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, August 02, 2017

Hello everybody and welcome the report for southern Nicaragua! This is Hotsticks updating you on today’s fun morning action so check it out!

Did you know that we STILL have waves right now!? Outer reefs are backing off but all the points and reefs are still fun. Also, the beach breaks are starting to open. Exactly how much more can you ask for?

Well, it is offshore all day here everyday. Or at least 10 or 11 months of the year…

Our good friend Clayton Snyder is back in town for the strike mission. Scroll down and you tell me if it was worth it or not.

Yep, worth it!!!

To be honest, first light featured some beautiful waves. Thankfully he still nabbed a few more after I picked up the camera.

Yeah Clayton! Nice tube bro. As always, it’s good to surf with you!

Sebastian Madriz, style master, made it out for a couple morning gems too. Each muchacho filled their quota before breakfast today.

Conditions wise, today has been really fun (it’s actually been good for the past few days). Early morning was great, mid morning was slow and rippy, but the late morning cleaned up for a fun session. To time this wave best, check out our vacation rentals. Get one that is oceanfront so you can have an eye on the wave 24/7 and never miss it when it turns on!

That is, if you like heavy barreling waves. If so, click that link above and come down with us! We will get you dialed in for some fun surf.

Something tells me Brett already has it figured it out.

Staying alive 5 photos later! Hold that rail bro…

And a nice top turn to balance everything out. Good to see you down here Brett and bring more (larger volume) Roberts surfboards next trip!

Ok, you’ve seen some perfect waves this morning. How about we check out some of the mess that rolled in between the firing sessions. Any takers on this guy?

As residents here, we all have opinions why Playa Colorado has a great wave and why it works. Some people are stoked on the sandbars right now and others are ehhh about it. Be careful with the steep beach and rapidly approaching backwash. Or charge it and go for a NICA Slams debut!!

I was stoked to see my buddy Ryan Cook out there today. Maybe you know him as a guest service rep, Vanas Tacos, or the local ding repair guy. Whatever name you know him by, he’s a solid man and an asset to the Iguana community.

He was hunting the big south sets. Not a ton looked epic beyond the drop. Nonetheless, finding a fast overhead wave is still worth something, right?

Shine had a similar idea. Find the biggest wave, take off deep, and see what happens.

As for me, sign me on those freight train rights!! I’ll take two more please.

People tell me I have the dream job (and it’s awesome! Thank you NSR…) but how about Clayton and Sebastian’s gig with Vissla?! Come hang with NSR, talk some business, stock our surf shop with new apparel, and get plenty of fun sessions out front. In all their visits here, they have scored the beach!

If this is what mixing business with pleasure looks like, I’m in!!

Yeah Clayton!! Epic to see you two again. Safe travels home and thank you for sharing some extra stoke with us. Hopefully see you guys again soon!!

Check out this empty right sequence and let me know what you think…

Baby spit #1

Baby spit #2. Why exactly did nobody go on this one?! Or was nobody around to get it?!

Did you guys know that today is International Derek Day? According to his buddy Rob, all Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays of each month (excluding leap years) are all “Derek Days.” Bro, while you’re hanging out in our hood for the week, are we going to get together, play some volleyball, drink some beers, and shoot a report???

Maybe I should the say the surf was small and horrible, wasn’t barreling, the winds came onshore, and it was really crowded. But this morning was really fun.

The next couple of days should feature fun leftovers. Then the waves will be flat (chest/shoulder) until the next swell in a week or so. Gotta love Nicaragua’s consistent surf…

Ok damas and caballeros, I can’t keep looking at the morning’s photos- I need to go out and get a few!! We appreciate y’all checking out today’s shots and we hope to see you here soon. Take care amigos!!
