Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, June 29, 2023

Josh S

Hey everyone! Welcome to the Thursday surf report from Playa Colorado. The waves were smaller today, but still playful. The wind was offshore, so we can’t complain!

Josh S

To start today’s report, we have Hayden Bell floating a section on this right. Hayden is the master of Pangas, but it appears that he wanted to mix things up today?

Josh S

This chica way down South of everyone snagged a nice right. I like these photos with Gigante’s headland in the background because they tend to throw viewers a loop. “Is that really Colorados?” Come and find out ;)

Josh S

This may seem a bit strange, but I got a bit fired up seeing a legit bodysurfer out in the lineup. This is a spectacle for us here, in other words we rarely, if ever, see “real” bodysurfers in the lineup.

Josh S

He looked like he was having too much fun out there! He had a peak to himself and was getting some great rides straight out from where I was shooting. Way to show us rookies how it’s done Mr. Hand-Plane!

Josh S

It was pretty small today, but there were still a few leftover tubes from yesterday. This goofy-footer managed to find a hollow, insider nugget.

Josh S

Bauti out on his usual grind showing us his JJF rail game as mentioned in prior reports. I’m impressed that he can maintain his speed and power through his turns despite being almost fully extended at his legs at this stage of the turn.

Josh S

This muscle man found one of the better waves of the morning. His pig-dog form looks pretty solid here, especially when accounting for his large frame and bulky muscles.

Josh S

I wonder if Bauti is looking to land a sponsorship deal with Nike? He’s flashing us the Nike “check-mark” logo on this layback, so maybe he is keen on representing them in Uruguay? Haha!

Josh S

John Gillem was out for his daily morning surf session. He got the most style points today. I mean, look at him here mid-cross step on this crispy right!

Josh S

Hiiiyaaaahhh! This shredder up North whipped out his flying crane form for us on this left. Props to this guy for sucking his knees in SO close to his torso.

Josh S

Another fellow goofy-footer holding it down for us out there today. He executed perfectly on this one. Drop in —> Lock in —> Hit the breaks —> Enoy the view —> Slide out before she closes shut.

Josh S

That’s all for today folks! Thanks for checking in for the Thursday report. I’m stoked we still got some fun, clean little waves even though it wasn’t as hollow as yesterday. Tomorrow looks like it will be fairly mellow like today, but we should have favorable winds again making for playful conditions. Cheers guys and see you tomorrow!
