Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, June 26, 2023

Josh S

Howdy, howdy everyone! Welcome to the Monday surf report. After a stretch of fun waves last week, we finally cracked open a rotten egg. Onshore winds!

Josh S

Unfortunately, I walked up to a near empty lineup this afternoon and this evening (I went down later to snag a few more shots). Ivana was taking advantage of the onshore winds, but nice weather, to go for a run with her pup.

Shane from Scoops Cafe was the only surfer out this afternoon who caught a keeper. He even managed to squeak behind the curtain on the only mini-tube I saw all day! He was grappling with the chandelier lip section on this one!

Luckily I was able to sneak down at sunset in an attempt to capture more surfing. A handful of surfers were out and doing some decent moves despite the submarginal conditions.

This shredder likely one the report heat today with this right-hand combo. Backside belt followed up with a clean mid-section floater to seal the deal. Judges love combo’s!

All the groms were loving a small tidal pool area in the line-up near the beach club. It looked like a complete frenzy haha! Floaties, bogey-boards and arms flying everywhere. Seth was the chaperone this evening, and did a great job of ensuring that the kids stayed safe while still having plenty of fun.

Lucy was in the water at least 4 or 5 hours today. Her discipline is impressive, given the relatively poor conditions. How’s this stylish top-turn that she pulled off? I like her hands held high posture here on this lip-line blast.

Josh S

Jeison got the only other "combo" of the session and certainly earned some points here. It’s impressive how precise and tight he held his bottom turn, so that he could find a tiny of chunk of coping.

Fly like a butterfly, sting like a bee! Small waves require near weightlessness on the board, yet still require strong torque/rotation of one’s shoulders and hips.

Josh S

It was getting really dark out there, but this fella found one last little corner before it got black. He knew the program, stay nimble just like Jeison!

Even though the waves were lacking today, the beach was so beautiful. The light sea-breeze was just cool enough to keep the sweat away haha. Maybe Shane was thinking about going out for more, or just taking a moment to appreciate how blessed we are here. Well amigos, tomorrow’s forecast looks to be onshore, but with more size. Hopefully I can catch a better window to shoot tomorrow! Thanks for checking in everyone and have a good one.
