Welcome to a new week of great waves in Nicaragua. The offshore winds are back and that means good surf, especially after the river broke on Saturday, readjusting the sand bars here at Santana.

The waves are smaller than yesterday but who cares about size when you have fun hollow peaks everywhere.

And if the wave was too small to get under the lip, still there was plenty of wall to go for a turn or an air, like Darwin Jacamo here with a double grab.

If you were too tired of surfing, the afternoon was pretty good for a walk on the beach. Kinda cloudy, nice breeze and good surf to watch.

Can you believe there is someone inside this wave? It was a long barrel but because of the angle I could not get a good shoot of the guy probably smiling inside there.

This could have been the best barrel of the day if it wasn’t for the inconsiderate guy on the shoulder screwing the wave.

First peak was not really working today. There was a little peak showing up sometimes but it was not the normal fast, hollow, wedge that we all love.

When the sets came, everyone wanted a piece of it. Mario knows so well this wave that sometimes it looks like he is not going to make the drop but there he is.

The river brought all kind of debris into the beach, come get your wood for bonfires, brick ovens or BBQs, there is plenty for everyone.

Looks like tomorrow the waves will stay the same and then by Thursday might start growing. Come back to see how it goes, or even better… reserve a house with us, get on an airplane, and see it for yourself!
