Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, May 25, 2008

Hi everyone, we’ve got Roberto “Lucha Libre” Garcia with the last surf report of the week for the Virginia Crew this year.  This morning we woke up really early to try to score a couple of waves.  Some of the crew just left today, but the rest stayed a little longer to get a few more waves.  Its chest to shoulder high on sets, the water is still pretty clear, and the wind is light onshore today.  Check it out.

Bob “Cebollas” Morecock paddled out today with his friends Ed and Jeff to have probably the last surf session of this trip.  Here comes “El Cebollas” bottom turning a nice right.

How about Jeff “Sitos” Breit taking off on a nice looking left. Where is “Juan Lago” when the surf comes up?

Here comes Ed “Eduardo” Power scoring one of the biggest set waves of the day.  Check out what you are missing “Big Duke”.

Here we have “El Cebollas” again, this time going left. Hey “Beez”, next time you guys should stay together until everyone goes home.

These guys scored some pretty fun waves early this morning. Here“Sitos” is checking out the wave to see what he can do on it.

Alright folks, this has been Lucha Libre with the Virginia Crew on the last surf session of the year down here in Nicaragua. I think these guys have enjoyed their vacation so much down here even if they didn’t get the surf they were expecting. Anyways, I’m so glad that guys enjoyed the good life down here with Lucha Libre and I hope you guys come back soon. Until next year my friends, God willing. Deacachinba.

This is Jairo "Come Pan" here with a second report for today.  Today a crew from Deerfield Beach, FL hired me to cruise around and take some surf shots.  The waves were small and the wind was light onshore but we still managed to have fun and catch some good ones.  We left SJDS first thing in the morning and headed out in search of the best waves.  This is "Mariposa" (butterfly in English), working it on a small left.

The waves were small and the conditions marginal out here today but the crew from Deerfield Beach wasn't fazed.  "Hey, this is still better than what we surf most of the time in FL" was overheard on the boat.  This is John "Rastaman Vibrations" Hickey, taking off on a nice left and looking for a big floater.  Rastaman was ripping today.

This is "Senor Mantiquilla" (Mr. Butter in English), gliding through a baby lefthander.  We call him Mr. Butter because he's so smooth and not because he rubs butter on his skin.

This is Danny P. scoring the set wave of the day.  Danny was charging out there and was frequently seen on the largest of set waves.

For every cloud there is a silver lining.  While the surf was fun, but marginal today - the fishing was INSANE!  On the way back, we threw out some lines and brought home some nice dorados.  The fishing is so good in Nicaragua right now these things are practically jumping into the boat.  Check 'em out.  The Deerfield crew got it done today!  Thanks for coming and hooking up with NSR!

Speaking of fish, Capt. Moss of Surfari Charters saw the fish we were posting and sent in some photos to remind us all who catches the most fish in Nicaragua.  Here's Capt. Moss and some guests with a monster Wahoo they caught a couple days ago.

Surfari Charters sent us this one too - Jimbo Taylor from St. Auggy released the first sail of the season (and a big one too!)  That thing is almost as long as the Va Pue!

Here's the last one from the Surfari crew - a boat full of Dorado and a couple of big 'Hoos.  Alright, you guys killed it last week!  Thanks for the shots - keep 'em coming!
