Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, May 23, 2018

What’s up ladies and gents!? It’s Parker logging in with today’s stormy shots. We have some big surf and some other epic photos to show- so check it out!

Looks like that swell arrived! There are some heavy walls pounding the bars. I’m excited to see what the sand looks like after.

Crowd wise, it was thin! Granted, the beach was pushing the limit and the unsettled overnight weather textured the waves.

Look closer. Full send into that cavern!!

*Gulp* that couldn’t have felt good. But it’s good to see all that swell in the water adjusting our sandbars! I just hope that guy isn’t a part of the bar now…

Case and point: lots of moving water and currents out there. If you’re going to swim, be careful.

If you’re just learning how to surf, you may want to get your exercise in through other methods. Or, talk to us about fun activities! Fishing, day trips, yoga, golf, in house massages, horseback tours, or local restaurants. Even if the surf isn’t happening, we’re armed with plenty of ideas.

And besides, so what?! So what if there’s a down day of crummy surf. You’re still at the beach enjoying the outdoors with your loved ones.

But know that a couple good ones might just slip through…

At the end of the freight train, you could find a meaty section to smash.

Though he doesn't know it, we're going to give Hot Karl a shoutout. Carl is one of three of our owners (better called leaders). He runs our real estate sector of the business, he helps handle the property management aspect, and he graciously manages me full time. So, he’s a pretty busy guy. He’s a stud, a great friend/boss, and always looking out for his neighbor. And he’s a huge Golden State fan too!!!

It looks soooo good but so tough!! Once the swell backs down and we get through today’s storm, the surf could get pretty fun! Fingers crossed for favorable winds and weather.

How about we change things up for a minute? We don't want to leave you only with messy surf so let's show off how our friends at Surfari Charters stoked us out!

Surfari, led under Captain Lance and Kristin Moss, Jimmy Taylor, and Jeff Soderlind just bought a new boat: The Lady Raye. She's a beautiful boat packing a lot of power. They aren't messing around with those small single engine pangas!!

Rick Flair, are you comfy bro?! That's the Surfari style: professional, styling, comfortable, but 100% goal oriented. So why not relax until they make you fight sea monsters??? Just please don't hit your head on the downrigger.

These boys always use live bait so you have the best chance of getting fish (they always have an endless amount of top secret spots loaded with fish too). Joel, the first mate, made sure we didn't get skunked and caught at least one little pinolero!!

Like I said, an arsenal full of spots! This was from inshore wrangling a gorgeous rooster. Good start but let's head offshore in hopes of something bigger!

Ask and ye shall receive!! Jeff Soderlind, El Rey de Dorado, put me on this 40 pounder. After fighting that thing (and nearly losing it a few times), my arms could barely hold it up for the picture...

And our entire crew now has bags of fresh mahi meat in our freezers!!! Though this was the best one caught, we put about 12 more healthy dodos in our cooler. Brittany did tell us to not come back without dinner... Again, ask and you will receive.

The sickest part was the bill fishing! The crew rigged up outriggers, downriggers, all kinds of teasers, baits, and lures, and a little bit of SUBU magic. After we set up, we had 3, yes THREE, sailfish bites all at once. Greg wrestled this beauty to the boat.

Ok, the fishing is the best part (or maybe being on a boat drinking Tonas all day) but those boys make your trip family friendly. The Lady Raye is Hunter Man (and Momma) approved. Bring them along!

She's a pretty one, huh? Email me at [email protected] to inquire about charters. With the onshore wind (and the subpar surf conditions), now is the time to go. Don't pass up an opportunity to fish with the best crew with the best set up in Nicaragua!

Ok folks, that's going to do it for us. I hope you enjoyed some surf and fishing pictures. Have a good rest of the week amigos!
