Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, May 10, 2018

Javier Baldovinos

Happy Thursday everyone! This is Baldo once again with the Thursday’s surf report, can you guess from where?? Yes, my local spot, Jiquelite beach, aka Santana!

Javier Baldovinos

The swell is slowly starting to fill in, the waves are a little bit bigger than yesterday and will continue to grow in size for the next few days until reaching its peak on Sunday/Monday.

Javier Baldovinos

Check out that wave on the back… that guy should be on the other peak!

Javier Baldovinos

The last few days the sandbar have been changing here at Santana… up and down the beach there are little peaks like this one popping up everywhere, hopefully all the sand will settle in once the swell gets here.

Javier Baldovinos

Today we had the privilege of having the Nicaraguan (and Costa Rica too) champion of surfing here with us at Santana, the one and only Valentina Resano checking out first peak with her dad (and coach) Manny.

Javier Baldovinos

Here she is going for a nice-looking first peak beauty.

Javier Baldovinos

She took the low line and missed the barrel 

Javier Baldovinos

But Manny was there to show her how is done like a good coach he is.

Javier Baldovinos

Picking the high line, pulling in and getting shacked.

Javier Baldovinos

And Valentina always close to daddy to take notes.

Javier Baldovinos

Manny is for sure a good surfer, and all the three “Little grasshoppers” Valen, Cande and Maxi, soon will reach (and surpass) their Sensei.

Javier Baldovinos

As you may know, right now the rainy season (which means officially the Surf season too) is about to start and the heat during the day has been “kinda” suffocating so, I decided to come work on writing these lines at the new Campo Brewery place, the Fermenteria Pub in Limon 2 … if you are in the area come check them out, there is nothing better to fight the heat with a nice cold local craft beer!

P.D.: I’m already tipsy after 2 Belgian Saison (7% ABV) and 1 Summer Ale (4.9% ABV). Fully Recommended!

Javier Baldovinos

But of course, Valentina, as a good student, should be watching everyone, not just her coach about how to surf and rip the waves.

Javier Baldovinos

Here is Manny again showing Valentina how is done… I think he always let her take the first wave of the set on purpose so he can show (off) her how it’s done.

Javier Baldovinos

According to the forecast the waves will be bigger tomorrow so, come back again to check it out! See you tomorrow!
