Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, May 08, 2009

What up everyone! This is Roberto “Lucha Libre”, Jairo “Come Pan”, Mateo “Guineo”, and the new intern Jeremiah “Chewy” bringing you the action from Nicaragua! We spent all morning at the beach and got a bunch of good shots.  The waves were running head high plus with offshore wind.  This is a shot from inside the barrel.  If you were surfing today, you probably got to see this view.  Check it out the rest of them!

Before we got into the surf we want to introduce our new friend Bob from Minnesota.  He and his dog “Lucy” were playing all over the beach today enjoying the sand and sunshine.  Bob wants to give a shout out to his friend Steve back home.

This is Shapin with a great sequence of a right barrel.  Waves like this remind him of why he lives just down the road from this wave.  Shot 1: Setting up for the green room.

Shot 2: The wall coming down…

Shot 3: Covered up!

Shot 4: Still cruzin…

Shot 5: Pokin his head out

Shot 6: Lucha Libre! Good Sequence buddy!

Some of these waves are sucking up hard on the sand bar allowing for a lot of speed.  Here is Erik “La Muerte” Nelson utilizing that speed attempting a huge back flip!

Jairo took the water camera out today.  It was tough to get some good shots because the current was strong.  Luckily our resilient “Come Pan” managed to get some pretty sick shots still.  This is Derek from Florida taking off on a fun left.

This is Cory “La Corita” taking off under the lip on a sick left.  You know he’s about to set up for a great barrel.  Sick shot man!

What?! Sharks in Nicaragua?!?! It’s a rare find but our friend Allan “La Prenda” Carcamo was out spear fishing near Playa Gigante and came across this 45lb shark. So he shot that thing with his spear gun and wrestled it to the boat to get some good food and a cool picture. There is an upcoming spear fishing contest May 17th, so get your spears ready!

Here are some of our boys from San Diego.  Havin' too many beers and not enough waves! Just kidding, these guys were killing it! Aaron, tell your friend you got on NSR!

For the final shot of the day we have an unknown rider about to sneak under a very heavy right! Look at that lip! It was a fun day, check back tomorrow. We’ll be reporting all of the action from the Maderas surf contest! Peace!
