Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, April 17, 2023

Brian Scott

Happy Monday Ya’ll!! Well it’s a new week and the good news is there’s a new swell that’s starting to show up, so the next few days should be pretty EPIC!!!! Check it out ~

Brian Scott

Had the pleasure linking up with one of Nicaragua’s finest surf guiding expedition companies today - @Chicabrava & double tag teamed it with my other set of good eyes @Clauflakita . However what set’s them apart is they focus on female surfers and not just any female surfers, but ANY and ALL. . . meaning every skill level you can throw at them. Hurry up and get them boards off the racks so we can go HIT iT!!

Brian Scott

As always, part of the allure is always taking the road (or in this case) path less traveled.

Brian Scott

We got down there pretty early (round mid morning) but the swell and waves looked to be perfect as this group is mostly in the beginner to semi intermediate level.

Brian Scott

But make no mistake about this group. They’d already tasted some of the goods the day before and today they were frothing to get out there and make some more magic happen in these beloved Nicaraguan waves!

Brian Scott

From far out takeoffs all the way to the inside sections. The gals were having a BLAST!!!!

Brian Scott

Uhhhhh - OHHH!! YEAAAH, then the ocean really appeared. The so called front runners were roping in and especially with that high tide creeping quickly, the Cliffs of the Dogs was detonating like it was the 4th of July!

Brian Scott

But that didn’t stop the chicas from turning tail and getting scared out of the water…. I think it almost made them want MORE!!! Reagan on a well sized wave (for what this particular part of beach is touted as "beginners bay" for our little stretch of beach here).

Brian Scott

Fanny, “ALL IN” and it’s not even poker night!!! Jaja

Brian Scott

Ok, who was pulling my leg today….. beginners Haaaa!!!

Brian Scott

Just taking a quick peek down the way at Proper Pangas, Robin getting in on some of todays beginning part of the NEW SWELL!!! Yeaaaahaaaaa!!!

Brian Scott

I think we’d all have to give Val the medal of honor out there today . . . she was going NUTS! I mean, this is supposed to be beginner to a little bit intermediate, but zoom in and look at her face (crazy HUGE smile) as she paddles like a maniac for this behemoth!

Brian Scott

Knowing (or maybe not even caring) making this wave was pretty impossible. . . just the fact that she went is just insanely AWESOME!!! Yaaaa, she payed her taxes for today with this one, BUT DANG Girl…!!! Pushing it out there!!!

Brian Scott

Shiloh as well. This place usually is a closeout, but there was so much west (or maybe even some combo) there were some really sick makable waves out there.

Brian Scott

And the gals who you’d think would have been out there surfing knee high dribblers, were doing the complete, exact opposite!

Brian Scott

Well, you can’t be a surf guiding company and not join in on the fun. Claire coming in after missing lots of really fun waves while pushing her ladies into some really fun and memorable (I imagine) waves today!!!

Brian Scott

Like the saying goes, “You can’t make dreamwork without the teamwork”. Nicely done Chicas!!!

Brian Scott

Swell’s gonna be bigger tomorrow, so we’ll have to see where the Tuesday report will be held tomorrow. Until then, rest up and GET READY for Mañana ~
