Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, February 14, 2018

Javier Baldovinos

Happy Valentine's everyone! This is Baldo reporting from Santana beach. The waves got smaller and the wind stronger, check it out.

Javier Baldovinos

I think today has been the windiest day of the season... I went to Rosada first because it's kinda protected from the wind but, look at those white caps on the back.

Javier Baldovinos

At my house the gusts flipped a wooden table that I keep on the porch. Flipped it and dragged it across the yard for several meters!

Javier Baldovinos

I went to Santana to see if the winds were allowing any action... it doesn't look that bad, right?

Javier Baldovinos

There were a few guys in the water, fighting the wind to catch the waves... not much action really, until this one-wave set showed up and this surfer found some cover.

Javier Baldovinos

Look at that masive white curtain behind the wave! and the surfer deep under it!

Javier Baldovinos

The curtain is getting bigger, and the green room smaller but the guy managed it very well.

Javier Baldovinos

Sadly he let himself get too deep and the wind and the wave swallowed him... he wins the Ride Of The Day award.

Javier Baldovinos

The tide got too high and the waves dissapeared for a while so I decided to take a break a come back later, maybe on the dropping tide.

Javier Baldovinos

Came back close to sunset and the wind was still strong... the waves were not that great either.

Javier Baldovinos

There were only 5 surfers in the water... all of them having a really hard time to catch the waves against the wind, probably the water was cold too.

Javier Baldovinos

After looking at the surfers paddling hard without catching any waves, finally one guy managed to get a decent ride.

Javier Baldovinos

A lot of waiting, a lot of wind, and not much surfing going on so, I packed my camera and went back home to celebrate with my better half (and my two kids). Hope all of you are doing the same! Happy Valentine's Day!
