Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, February 29, 2024

Josh S

Hey everyone! Welcome to Thursday’s surf report from main peak Pangas. It was small again today, so much so that John had the lineup all to himself.

Josh S

The well-known backside slash at work. John is married to the Ricky Carroll now haha.

Josh S

Lift those toes! Gotta engage that heel-side rail sufficiently for the roundhouse.

Josh S

Coiling up and dropping his back elbow to set up a big off-the-top.

Josh S

Oye! His timing was probably slightly off here, as he connected with the lip in a lower than ideal part of the wave-face. Still infinitely better than my non-existent session today haha.

Josh S

BAM! John was playing around with this power carve. This turn must’ve felt really nice in comparison to the majority of the soft faces from the majority of today’s waves.

Josh S

Here we go! His timing was spot on here with the end-section attack.

Josh S

He can’t let his carves get rusty. Otherwise he won’t be capable of offering free showers to the surfers sitting out the back in future sessions.

Josh S

John did an excellent job of not letting any steep sections go to waste today.

Josh S

These slightly more critical end-sections are highly coveted on gutless days like today.

Josh S

Someone’s gotta do it!

Josh S

A good sequence of rotation is necessary to execute roundhouses like these.

Josh S

One more high speed carve for you viewers :)

This was John’s overall review of today’s conditions and water temp haha! Oh well, we take what the ocean gives us. The good news is that March is looking like a relatively good and consistent month swell-wise so we can all train and hope for that. Take it easy guys and have a good one.
