Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, March 01, 2024

Josh S

Hey everyone! Welcome to March! Today’s surf report is coming your way from main peak Pangas. There was a little bit extra size today which was nice.

Josh S

Johnny boy once again had the lineup all to himself.

Josh S

I can tell by John’s muscle definition that his time under the weights from this past week has paid off.

Josh S

The signature backside carve. It wouldn’t be a surf report without it!

Josh S

Keeping it smooth. Nice work John. Pangas is a wave where smooth controlled turns typically flow better than sharper blasts.

Josh S

Ahh the signature foreground focus troll. I was pretty miffed that the focus didn’t cooperate here, as John executed a sick turn.

Josh S

Either the water clarity was pretty ridiculous today or all three of John’s fins are disengaged. Pretty wild either way haha!

Josh S

I think John’s choice of maneuver was perfect here. He had a lot of speed, but couldn’t do a snap, so he opted for a powerful down-carve to redirect his speed and displace a significant amount of water.

Josh S

I didn’t realize this until combing through the photos, but there was a good mix of both rights and lefts today. Pretty close to a 50-50 distribution.

Josh S

John swooping low with his wings out through this roundhouse. Maybe he’s been watching Top Gun again?

Josh S

Woah, Spot X showing some signs of life! I could see a shift in the overall energy in the water today and I think we are in for a weekend of good waves. Tomorrow should be noticeably larger and Sunday larger yet again. Fingers crossed and hasta mañana!
