Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, December 12, 2016

Carl NSR

Whattup homies and homettes! Welcome to your Monday edition of the surf report, coming at you from Tola Nicaragua where even Monday is funday. So the websites are all forecasting 1-2 ft today and we love it! With a recent storm giving us some much needed rain and shade from the sun and the waves running in the waist to chest range we were on it for the lunch time session at this swell magnet of a spot.

Weightless is a word that almost never comes to mind when you are a 200+lb mass of muscle. But this down-the-line ride from Armando "El Codo" Lopez definitely evokes the idea. He'll need all that speed to thread the needle and avoid the guys chilling on the inside.

Carl NSR

As mentioned Sunday isn't the only funday in Nicaragua. Monday also sees family and friends making a beach day of it. Hey Thalia!!

Though a bit on the small side, conditions and shape were perfect today. And the ladies were loving it.

Let the ladies shine! Miss Johanes about to set the rail and get above the lip.

Speaking of getting above the lip, the standout surfer in the water today was Oli Camero visiting from Panama. This guy rips!

The double hand paddle technique is how you catch em from way outside on the big boards.

Here is Mr. Mark Robertson showing how easy it is to get in early on his brand new locally shaped 10 foot Riderz brand longboard. Geizi Amador from Limon 2 has been the repair master, fixing dings and spreading good vibes for many years and is now Nicaragua's one and only Nicaraguan born board shaper. Hit him up at [email protected] to order your custom shape.

This time of year it is not often very big, but it can sure be fun. The water's 80 degrees and the winds are light and offshore all day. We'll be coining the term December Sessions from now on for days like these. We appreciate you taking a few moments from your day to share in the stoke with us. And remember we are here to help you enjoy your next Nicargaua surf vacation so drop a line to [email protected] and let us make planning your trip easy.
