Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, October 03, 2005

Last night, my worst nightmare was realized. Roberto woke me up at 2am to tell me that the Dirty Sanchez had gone down. Evidently last night's storm was pretty bad. She filled up with water and a wave took her out. My poor baby. I'm sick to my stomach over this. Check out what she looked like in the water. This is us, getting her to the beach to turn her back over.

It took about 10 of us to get her back up. She was fairly thrashed, but nothing that can't be fixed. Brand new Yahama's...damn.

But we weren't the only ones to take it on the chin. Two other pangas went down last night. This is my neighbor Fidel's boat with the DS in the background.

They even lost another big fishing boat. Here it is washed up on the beach.

So, we got her up, lifted her out of the water and have already begun the reparation process. It will take a little while, but we'll get her back in the water.

At least we have good support from Yahama and Casa Pellas. These guys came out the same day and have already broken down and flushed out the motors. We've got our fingres crossed, but they are insisting they will be ok.

So there were some waves today. Not very good, but people were surfing. Here is a shot from the bay.

This is me, pondering what happened. It sucks, but we will learn from it and move on.
