Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, June 16, 2019

Hola amigos and welcome to the Sunday Funday edition of the NSR surf report! This is Hotsticks showing you low tide shots from the reef. Check it out!

Before we start showing this morning shots, we want to wish all the dads out there Happy Father’s Day. Y’all teach us, challenge us, hold us accountable, and are our role model. Also, thank you for paying for everything (especially our surf trips)!! We hope all the dads out there had a wonderful day grilling, hanging with family, and felt appreciated.

Kenny Smith, coincidentally a phenomenal dad in the Tola area, finding his well deserved right. Speaking of other dads who surf this wave, where you today Roger?!?

When it’s small (so head high and under), the CPSO breaks out his Wavestorm. That works, or come rent a longboard with us!

Kenny and I tease about our “infamous” cutback competitions. Considering he surfed and I didn’t, he was on a foamie, and its Father’s Day, I think he takes the cake. This time only though hombre…

Snapping right back into the pocket and already scanning for the next section. He’s such a fun guy to share the line up with!

The rights were on tap today. And judging by this groundswell filling in all next week, there should be plenty more! Alleviate the Monday morning blues and ask your buddy about a strike mission.

If it pumps, I don’t think you’ll want to hang out (be caught in) that inside bowl though…

I shot photos today from Casa Cantamar. I can’t say enough great things about this house: the property staff, the outdoor area (pool, sofa, hammocks), or the central location. Also, ladies, it is very well designed with the wood and tile work. Just saying… Side bonus note: this house hosts the annual international Spikeball competition, right Clay?

Rights rights rights but some lefts trickled through! I’m a biased regular footer so I think the rights were the better call.

The CPSO agrees. When the waves are like this, I can never decide if I want the low or the high tide. The low tide can feature longer waves and better shape but the high tide opens up the inside and can show more size. Decisions decisions.

Another tough decision is Casablanca. Central AC, lounge and rocking chairs, a third story balcony, and two perfect hammocks to watch this wave all day. Hmmmm…

If you do rent one of those two houses, keep your eye on the beachie here. It’s tough to predict but you can get some fun empty rippable waves. Not bad if you’re with all of your buddies!

Alright guys and gals, it’s lunch time down here so time to slip out for a surf and shift gears into the afternoon. As always, we thank y’all for checking out the report and we’ll look forward to uploading some better surf shots as soon as this swell arrives. Have a good week and stay tuned!! Dale puesss
