Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, May 24, 2021

Brian Scott

Hola and welcome to another week of waves! It might be Monday for most, but it’s been more like groundhogs day here in Nicaragua on the Emerald Coast. Today saw the biggest drop in swell that seems to have been running for days. But that’s not to say there isn’t still some solid sets every now and then… check it out!

Brian Scott

Today was all about airing out and expanding the whole body after being stuffed, tossed, rag-dolled and paddling and dodging and weaving some of the best swell we’ve seen so far in 2021.

Brian Scott

Gillem, always in position and waiting patiently for those “Bombs”! At least the ones that are left and still coming in.

Brian Scott

If I had to come up with how many barrels were ridden over the weekend and before that with this incredible swell we received, I’m sure the number would be staggering. But I don’t really even think any cares about that factor (as there is a legitimate answer) just as long as you were out there and looked like this guy, then that’s all that really mattered.

Brian Scott

There’s no sneaking in a “Mystery Barrel Surfer” with this guy’s style, let alone board shorts. Jaja I’ll give all you out there still scratching your heads a hint… he LOVES to sing! Matter fact, I bet you he’s singing accapella right there, in that barrel, like one would do in the shower.

The air game had returned today in full force. That’s what happens when you have about 20 mini up and coming frothing groms who timed their little stealth strike perfectly and now they get to show off like they’re back home at trestles.

Brian Scott

Well, not everyone is or was from trestles. That’s what’s so great about surfing. The talent is ageless and globally unique all in the same way no matter where you’re from.

Brian Scott

This dudes cutback spray is so unique, I had to throw it up on the report I Iiked it that much (out of the other 3K other photos taken in todays late morning perfection.

But seriously, the ripping was world class out there throughout this entire swell. You could tell how badly everyone had missed out on (be it their first time to Nicaragua or Ump-teenth time here) surfing waves….. really really good waves for almost over a year, I’m sure for most!

Brian Scott

Like my buddy Bobby who came all the way over from Hawaii. He said it wasn’t easy getting here, but his strike mission was perfectly executed!!!! Much like this barrel and allllll the other waves he scored in just 1 week in Nica-Land!

Brian Scott

Talking about unique too… not too many pull off the ol’ snap turn in the pocked, especially on this raceway wave and then continue to get barreled, in which he did.

Brian Scott

Offshores, clear tropical warm water…. what else do you need???

Brian Scott

Ok. Well this guy proved my theory in which you need a lot of sun protection here. Here this unknown amigo’s double wrapping on this mini salt mine!

Brian Scott

If it weren’t for waves, what else would all you salty creatures do???? I mean really? Thank you mother earth for creating this incredibly addicting and non stop thinking thing you created for all of us ocean lovers called “Surfing”! Diacachimba ~
