Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, March 22, 2023

Brian Scott

Happy Hump Day of the week folks! Well, the winds switched back to going offshore nuclear today and it was relentless. Not many people out braving the extreme “If your board fly’s back and hits you in the head, you might die” that strong of winds today. So with local knowledge, I had a pretty good idea that the winds would die down (enough) to make for a great late afternoon session. . . and boy did my gut feeling pull it off!!! Check it out!

Brian Scott

It was still plenty offshore, but it was just enough to where it made the waves so much more groomed than it was the entire day.

Brian Scott

It was still a pretty large high swinging tide coming down right at the cusp of about how late I usually prefer to go shoot (for the light), but there were plenty of waves and some decent outside clean up sets, as apposed to the ones that were breaking pretty far in and close to the beach like this shot here.

Brian Scott

It was actually barreling too!

Brian Scott

Amazing light, and some unridden waves here and there, but how gorgeous looking was it out there eh??

Brian Scott

Here’s a nice indicator of how (less windy it was when I first got down there) I wish I had a photo from earlier, but it was pure victory at sea!

Brian Scott

Here the calmer late afternoon waves and swell was pretty magical this evening!

Brian Scott

Sarah going after both the rights and the lefts.

Brian Scott

Her mama came up to me on the beach and in Spanish asked if I had gotten any of her daughter Sarah, I reassured her that she’d definitely make the report today! So, here ya go Rosalba!!! ;)

Brian Scott

Here’s a couple deuces from three different surfers, three different styles and three nice waves in a row! First off, Jett’i’mon taking off on a nice overhead runner. . .

Brian Scott

Followed up with this intense and nicely executed roundhouse wraparound!

Brian Scott

Next up, Papa Nam (Cesar) speed blurring his way so fast with his bottom turn, looking to do something radical. . .

Brian Scott

Baaaaammm, yeah Dudie, and that’s putting all that speed to good use!

Brian Scott

Last but not least of the “Tres Deuces Wild”, Jeison, gunning for it fast and precise. . . the guy surfs like he’s a Lamborgini!

Brian Scott

And he smashes and crushes sections like Mike Tyson!

Brian Scott

Same goes for Kai. A true wave killer!!!!!

Brian Scott

Bro’s fo life!!!!!!

Brian Scott

Actually, everyone out there today was killing it. Josh with a sick backside floater reentry.

Brian Scott

The sun dropped so quickly, I literally had to run (not walk) all the way back to my moto, where I started out a couple hours earlier.

Brian Scott

In surfing though, it ain’t over until it’s you can’t see out there anymore “over”! Josh heading back out for the last call.

Brian Scott

One last super sick fly away air way down the line as I headed south the other direction, luckily looking back in time to catch Jeison doing this epic closeout section air with Los Perros as his backdrop.

Brian Scott

And that my friends is what we here call. . . “A Good Day in surfing”! Buenas noches ~
