Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, February 08, 2021

Brian Scott

Happy Monday amigos! Well, it was a pretty mellow Monday actually, not a whole lot going on when I went down to shoot. But there certainly were some waves. Windy as heck though!

I came up over the sand dune look out and was pretty much in disbelief as I didn’t see any surfers out and was ready to pack it up…

But then I glanced over and saw one guy way down the line he must have been hiding behind one of the first waves of the set.

Here’s the second person I saw, but he was just getting out, so I knew my odds of getting anything really that great were looking grim by this point.

Brian Scott

Turns out there were two surfers left. This dude..

And this dude. I had quite a bit going on today so I knew that if I didn’t shoot now I might not be able to make it for the afternoon session, plus the tide was pretty much dead low right around sunset time. So I decided to stay and see what I could get.

I kept hearing this whistling noise from far away. But everywhere I looked I couldn’t see anyone! Finally, I looked over by the Costa Mar condos and I saw my buddy Emi and his friends waving. I’m totally zoomed here, so they’re actually about 2 or 300 yards away. I was trying to signal them to go out and give me some good content for the report. But of course, they simply smiled, threw me a couple of “shakas” and figured that would be good enough for them for the report. Haha well, it worked guys! I didn’t have much today so look… you made the report! LOL

Brian Scott

It was getting pretty Lully and with only two guys sitting out and pretty much off the main peak, there wasn’t much I could do by this point but just wait and wait for a solid set of waves to hopefully catch something.

Brian Scott

Here’s the best wave I saw waiting for a good half an hour or maybe a little more. That’s why you say you have good days and you have not so good days. Today was just one of those days where I was at the right place, just at the wrong time.

Brian Scott

So for the rest of the day as the salty water started to recede, it looked like it was more of a better beach walking and sight seeing day than surfing. I’m hoping and crossing my fingers that tomorrow I have better luck! Buenas noches my friends ~
