Nicaragua Surf Report for Tuesday, January 30, 2018

Brian Scott

Happy Tuesday everybody! Guess what we received today....??? That’s right, WAVES!!! Check it out ~

Brian Scott

Well we had a nice new little swell come in, but it also came with some of the strongest offshores I think we’ve had so far this windy season.

Brian Scott

These winds are about as good as it gets for photos, but paddling into these things with 30mph winds like today was pretty tricky!

Brian Scott

There were a couple little lully moments between the much larger sets, but Chocoyo knows what to do in the downtime out there.

Brian Scott

Not long after that last shot, this was the next set to roll through. How about that spray?!?!?

Brian Scott

Chocoyo nabbing a nice little runner on the inside section, that actually barreled quite a ways. It ended up closing out, but I think this was the wave of the day, since I didn’t see anyone else get barreled.

Brian Scott

Empty peaks were lining this stretch of beach for a solid 2-3 hours, or however long I was down there shooting.

Brian Scott

Katie waiting patently for a good one to come through that you could actually catch. The winds were making it really difficult to get into most of them.

Brian Scott

Finally she got one and rode it all the way in, but not before cracking a nice little of the top before stepping off onto dry sand. Nice one Amiga!!!!

Brian Scott

Positioning your self at this lineup actually takes quite a bit of local knowledge. Sit to far outside and you chase and miss the waves, sit too far in, you always catch that ominous outside set that eventually comes each and every time.

Brian Scott

This would be one of those “Ominous” outside sets!!!

Brian Scott

The inside section was a little better-off from those howling winds way out the back.

Brian Scott

So it was kind of like a little skate park, with some nice wind in your face to cool you down.

Brian Scott

The water’s still a bit chilly, just ask Katie; and I’m sure after todays mega strong offshores, I can imagine tomorrow is gonna be quite a bit colder with all the upwelling.

Brian Scott

Still though, if I told you the waters a balmy 85 degrees and perfect, you would never know; or care for that matter with waves like this!

Brian Scott

I mean, but really how strong was it you ask??

Brian Scott

About thiiiiiiiis strong.

Brian Scott

Kevin can throw HUGE amounts of buckets even on any given onshore day, so look at how dynamic the winds make the spray look, on this little check turn cutback by Mr. Cortez.

Brian Scott

How many guys do you think would be on this wave at say, Lowers?

Brian Scott

Sea-foam green and super fun as the day went on.

Brian Scott

NO shortage of fun for these 3 guys out that had the lineup all to themselves for a few hours.

Brian Scott

Hey, wanna see what it looks like when Kevin connects a wave from the outside to the inside section.

Brian Scott

It looks a bit like this…. and pretty consistently too!

Brian Scott

WOW, finally some waves… I’m still buzzing from the wind that was in my ears… and also the stoke that this was supposed to be our little 1-2 foot bump. That means quite possibly that the swell predicted to arrive first part of February might be really really good!! Lets keep our fingers crossed! Los veré más tarde ~
