Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, December 30, 2023

Josh S

Saturday surf report time! Wow it’s hard to believe 2023 is closing shut on us. Pangas lived up to its reputation as "old faithful” again. Relatively mild wind and small, but playful size.

It was a little slow out there between the sets, but when they came they were fun! I think a grom could’ve got spat out on either the left or right on this set wave at French Fries.

An unknown surfer doing an excellent job of maintaining his speed by staying on rail. The middle peak definitely looked better suited to long-boards today, but this guy proved that shortboards were still manageable on the set waves.

This surfer was probably wishing he could snap his fingers and swap his shortboard for a longboard here. Mellow little waves between the sets.

Look out below! Haha! Plenty of beginners and intermediates have had a gentle playground to challenge themselves in over the past five days or so.

But for some the challenge proved too great haha! Or maybe a ghost was performing an alley-oop on this Wavestorm.

Watch out! Dodge the section instead of dodge-ball. Check out that emerald green water color.

I wonder if this surfer was considering the possibility of a barrel here. If I may be analytical for a moment, I do think his stance should be slightly further back with each foot. It’s difficult to change directions or control rail engagement from that far up the board.

Some mystery chica came flying in like a "bat out of hell” on a big outside bomb-set. I agree with her board selection! Big board, big reward!

Amigos, I hope those of you in Iguana (and Rancho) got a piece of today’s playful and clean conditions. I expect to see similar conditions tomorrow, but I know the Papagayo’s are forecasted to start puffing again in the not so distant future. Thanks for stopping by and be sure to make the most of the last day of 2023!
