Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, November 01, 2023

Josh S

Hi everyone! We hit the jack pot (relatively speaking) today (Wednesday) at Playa Colorado. Offshore and draining!

Josh S

Right or left? Right!

Josh S

There was an extreme amount of West in the swell today, so much so that Mike Doan even said it was Northerly swell (could be true honestly). When we see more West in the swell, then rights tend to dominate the lineup.

Josh S

When the lefts did come through they were very heavy and thick! I took a handful of good lickings on some lefts today…

Josh S

A laid back snap on the inside section from this fella.

There were some high quality drainers out there. I was getting twitchy watching the minutes pass haha. This morning was definitely the best I’ve seen in it in a couple of days.

Josh S

The other great thing about today’s surf was the non-existent crowd. When I paddled out after shooting I was solo for 45 minutes or so.

Josh S

You should be getting the picture by now :) The way that the waves were roping down the sandbar from Pangas to Colorados reminded me of hurricane swells back on the east coast. Instead of coming in as peaks hitting the sandbars straight, the swell lines were longer and hitting the sandbar on an angle.

Josh S

Paddle quick Lucy! Get out there so you can grab a piece of the next set.

Josh S

I couldn’t tell exactly who this was way up North getting this below sea-level barrel, but I think it was Bruno. This was the best wave I saw while shooting.

Josh S

Picture perfect!

Josh S

Another guy logging some tunnel time quite a ways North of the standard peaks.

Josh S

You better believe I was hauling @55 to get home and suit up after seeing all these empty, sheet-glass kegs.

Josh S

Let’s all hope tomorrow shapes up like this too!

Josh S

I don’t think there were ever more than 10 people in the water at once today. Nicely done to those of you who got a piece of the pie! I wasn’t expecting the surf to be *this* good today. The forecasts have been consistently wrong the past week, so I haven’t been monitoring them as closely as I generally do. The old eyeball check has proven to be the only reliable method lately. Cheers guys, have a good one.
