Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, October 25, 2023

Josh S

Hey everyone, Josh here for the next week or so while Tony Z is away chasing tubes :) The waves were definitely mellower than the past two or three days, but there were still some fun ones coming in around mid-day at high tide.

When the tide is higher you’ll often end up riding through the foamy aftermath from the first wave or two of the set. These are challenging sections to navigate so this surfer did well to hold his rail just the right amount through this turn.

John snuck out on a mid-length board for a quick surf session. I guess he was fired up from being sidelined the past few days, as he unleashed some extra torque through this carve.

Luca smiled all the way through this cutback. I guess he was having a good time out there today!

Josh S

Simon raking in 10 out of 10 style points on this powerful snap. He’s had quite the hot streak the past few days. I saw him make no less than 10 good barrels the past two afternoons.

Johnny boy doing his best to fold up into this chandelier section left.

Josh S

He managed to sneak behind the curtain for the only barrel of today’s report.

Josh S

And he busted out with some cool form as well! He was hinged forward like a battering ram, but it was very effective in punching through the lip.

Lucy carving it up on her backhand.

John eyeing up the whitewater bank section on this roundhouse cutback. His mid-length board aided him in carrying his speed through some of the softer high tide sections.

Josh S

His second move was a quick check-turn / snap. It was tricky to maintain speed on some of the fatter sections at lunch time, but it was punchier around 2:30pm closer to mid-tide.

Lucy show-casing some quality race / pump form on this right. Her vision and arm positioning are perfect, this will come in handy on hollower days for barrel riding.

Josh S

Chocoyo paddled out for some waves just as I was wrapping up shooting. He has one of the meanest frontside hacks I’ve ever seen. This is his signature move. Check how good his style is and how he uses his lead arm perfectly as a stake to rotate around.

Josh S

That wraps up Wednesday’s action from Colorados. We’ve been very blessed the past week with offshore winds, but it looks like the next 3 to 5 days will be onshore. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best! See y’all tomorrow.
