Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, September 16, 2023

Josh S

Saturday surf report time! It was definitely a bit smaller today, but there were still plenty of sweet barrels on tap today.

Josh S

The water color was perfect this morning while I was shooting. This guy has his hands up and is stepping on the gas, good call.

Josh S

The river-mouth rights would occasionally have some rip current flow affecting their faces, but the sandbars are good and it’s still hollow enough that they were barreling.

Josh S

It was pulsing pretty hard while I was shooting this morning, so the photos make the surf look better than it really was today. Don’t get me wrong, the set waves like this one this guy got were epic, but it was usually a 7 to 10 minute wait for them.

The vision and sensory experience all of us tube fanatics pursue.

Bruno was cleaning house this morning. I saw him make three good barrels while I was shooting which is a pretty good count especially given the more inconsistent conditions.

Josh S

Bruno spends a lot of time behind the camera, he is also a photographer here, so I’m stoked to see he’s been relishing the good conditions.

Josh S

Round One Victory: Bruno! Now he’s lining up for the second section… I’ll leave that one a mystery though haha

Josh S

If you zoom in on this guys face you can see him grinning ear to ear. The visitors here this past week have certainly scored!

Demonstrating the principle of “One must compress before one can extend to generate drive.”

Josh S

To shut down today’s report I have a solid 9 to 10 point barrel (relative to what the wave had on offer).

Josh S

How perfect was thing?! What a lucky camper.

Josh S

He got deep too.

Josh S

To add even further points to the ride, he was in there for seconds. Tick tock!

Josh S

Well navigated sir!

Josh S

Watch out for the falling guillotine amigo!

Josh S

Crisis averted.

Josh S

And a smooth yet strong roundhouse to seal this waves fate. Wave of the photo window amigo! That being said I think Koji was the king of the lineup today.

Josh S

Father of the day award here! Training up for the next swell, eh? The epic run of surf continues to linger and I have zero complaints! Mr. Tony Z is back behind the lens tomorrow and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we’ve still got some fun chest to head high tubes rolling through tomorrow.
