Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, September 15, 2023

Josh S

Happy Friday everyone! Here’s some of today’s surf action from Colorados. The size of the surf roughly held constant from yesterday, and I would argue the shape and consistency were even better today relative to yesterday. Talk about a late swell kick!

Josh S

There were quite a few tubes made this morning, but this afternoon there was more lacerating and hacking going on.

Josh S

There were some good surfers out this afternoon when I shot! You can tell they are skilled by the degree of water they are displacing during their turns.

Josh S

Wes Yockey made one of the few barrels I saw during my photo session. It was a tight tube and Wes is a tall guy so he did very well to tuck in and slide out of this inside section nugget.

Josh S

Ooohh, she’s a little runaway…

Josh S

A well timed and placed back hand hook from this regular footer. He did well to stay tight to the pocket with his top turn on the fatter wave.

Josh S

Whoom! This guy got some height on this boost. You can see how perfect the air section was below the surfer.

Josh S

Skkkrrrrtttt! This guy is going full slam on the breaks here! That’s how high tide barrel riding works here though. The opposite of our low tide drainers :)

Josh S

The daily emerald barrel! He’s the lucky winner today. He’s gotta jam that back hand in there to slow down a bit more though.

Josh S

The goofy footers were not to be outdone today though!

Josh S

Sir, here’s your cart. You’re right on time for your afternoon tee time. No mulligans though!

Josh S

Perfect sequence of rotation and right hook from this surfer in white. Dana White, get him on the UFC list!

Josh S

Oh man I didn’t realize it until now but a good chunk of today’s shred photos were actually Seth! His short hair cut is still throwing me a loop haha! Here’s a nice speedy snap he threw in on this left.

Josh S

Laying it all on rail. Perfect train of thought during full high tide conditions.

Josh S

That wraps up today’s surf action. Tomorrow’s forecast looks like it will probably drop some from today, but I think the sets will still be hollow if you’re on patrol looking for them. What an epic run of surf we’ve had the past four days or so! I hope you guys have been enjoying the documentation so far and if the South Pacific keeps providing I’ll keep the good stuff coming your way.
