Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, August 17, 2023

Josh S

Thursday surf report on tap from Colorados. Today the waves were even a bit better than yesterday, so get ready for some tube time.

Josh S

Unfortunately, it looks like this hollow section caught this guy off-guard! This shot highlights that just below mid-tide today even the medium sizers were barreling.

Josh S

Oscar Espinoza getting grabby on this air reverse! Textbook form and a really cool neon board to add further style points.

Josh S

Nacho (one of two Nacho’s here presently) working on his pig-dog form. The rights were running perfectly across the sandbar during today’s photo window.

Josh S

The bodyboarders weren’t too be outdone today! This guy did a sick roll after projecting up off the lip and rode out of it. Inverted!

Josh S

This was definitely the window today. It wasn’t firing on all cylinders, but definitely the highest ratio of good barrels to closeouts I’ve seen in a while.

Josh S

Carlos de Colorados maintaining his epithet. I think this guy could go a year without surfing, then paddle out and get a 5 second tube on his first wave back, he’s just that hard-wired to get shacked.

Josh S

If his barrel wasn’t impressive enough, then this huge boost post-exit should seal the deal.

Josh S

Carlos got a pretty good barrel, but this guy’s was even better in my opinion. He found one of the higher quality waves of the morning and locked in low straight away.

Josh S

This guy was keen on taking his perfect barrel to value town. Notice his double hand drag to sit as deep as possible.

Josh S

Then as the next section started to pitch down the line, he extended a bit at his knees and lifted his hands to squeeze in a pump. Still deep though!

Josh S

And at last he succeeded in busting through the “shrinker” end section of the lip. Nice one dude, I bet you’re stoked you found this one!

Josh S

Boogeyboarders on tube patrol as well. Set that rail just right!

Josh S

To close today’s report we’ve got two sick lip blasts. This guy’s back foot placement is perfect to punch his fins back behind the coping.

Josh S

Froth master! This guy engaged the perfect part of his rail to navigate this really foamy left.

Josh S

Sunshine and smiles, another day in Iguana’s paradise! It’s been a fun couple days of surf, so hopefully this win streak carries on for the next few days. From what I recall, tomorrow is forecasted to be quite similar to today, so if you check back in you’ll likely see some more tubular action! Thanks for checking in y’all and have a good one.
