Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, August 05, 2023

Josh S

Saturday Surf Report coming your way! Colorados was the spot today, and the swell definitely surprised me to the upside. I guess it was the increase in the swell interval that showed itself today.

Josh S

The tide was still a little high when I first arrived at the beach this morning, so the first few shots will be of turns and airs. How cool is this guy’s paint-job on his board?

Josh S

Kai DeLorenzo dabbing on us with this sick Ooper! Dude, I don’t think I’ve gotten that high out of the water in at least a year XD

Josh S

Bauti probably saw the softer conditions early at high tide and decided to ride a fun shape board. The surf’s power increased through the session, but that couldn’t stop Bauti from displaying some quality style and flow.

Josh S

I bet riding longer boards in these sort of conditions is like running with weights on. It forces you to push harder through your turns, so that when you return to your shortboard you are throwing buckets.

Josh S

Barry Bushman logged some tube time this morning! Way to lock and load amigo!

Josh S

This lucky guy likely got the wave of the morning. Colorados doing it’s best mini-pipe impersonation.

Josh S

Kai logged some shade time as well! He always seems to sniff out the sandy and frothy rights haha. I get deja-vu every time I see him weaving through one of these brown barrels, I’ve seen him do this hundreds of times!

Josh S

Finley, surely Asher has educated you about not picking your nose in public!

Josh S

It wasn’t all jokes and monkey business for Fin this morning though. He found perhaps the second best left of the morning and got a couple nice pumps in before it shut down on him.

Josh S

Bauti opting for a booty ride! I guess it’s sometimes fun to go for extra creative moves on big boards right?

Josh S

Fin boosting a flawless air reverse. He rode out of this air too! Fin is in a league of his own when airborne.

Josh S

A nice little pig-dog from this mysto rider down South. It might not have been the biggest wave, but shape is more important than size in my book!

Josh S

Colorados was definitely showing signs of life today, but was still a little inconsistent. On these days, I like to pull into hollow closeouts to get some tube time + pumps in. This guy stayed active and back-doored this closeout left por la vista (for the vision).

Josh S

Finley at it again sneaking into a nice set that shifted wide of everyone down South. I think Finley catches two times as many waves per day than the next most active surfer each day haha.

Josh S

Baaaam! Even if I was tasked with making a surf report each day of just Finley I bet I could do it haha!

Josh S

Alrighty folks I hope you enjoyed today’s surprise upside in swell! I know a bunch of the surfers here are happier campers now than they were yesterday :) I think tomorrow might even be a bit bigger and the Legendary Tony Z is back on the report, so be sure to stop by tomorrow evening and see what action transpires. Thanks for stopping in and have a good weekend!
