Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, July 16, 2021

Brian Scott

Welcome to the Friday surf report amigos. Today we headed to a little place off the normal radar and a little more sheltered from the wind and more importantly the crowds. Hope you enjoy!

Brian Scott

It’s a fun place if yo like long hikes to get to and don’t mind an urchin encrusted reef break.

Brian Scott

Locals only is encrusted with this spot. But it doesn’t necessarily need the violence to enforce it. Your surfing alone will prove your right of passage, alone.

Brian Scott

Clay Marzo’ing out over very similar Nica style dragon style reef.

Brian Scott

The setup with only a handful of people out.

Brian Scott

The break that sits minutes away has helped transform the local talent into world class surfers, for sure.

Brian Scott

It doesn’t take much to travel outside the normal comfort zone of some of Nica-Lands predominately more favorite zones, to find empty gems that usually go fairly unnoticed.

Brian Scott

Looks fun, right? If you like a foot or two of water over urchin encrusted reef.

Brian Scott

Thinking about what my last statement was…. this local kid hasn’t a care of the consequences.

Brian Scott

The only way in is by buying or owning land here, (knowing someone here - which is not in your favor) or just walking in. Looks like this guy opted for option # 3.

Brian Scott

The views are more dreamy than the photos, in reality….

Brian Scott

and the wave itself is actually better than any picture can take.

Brian Scott

The trust is in your equipment, your surfing knowledge and of course, knowing the whereabouts.

Brian Scott

Knowing when to kick out is also always key.

Brian Scott

Underrated surfer at a very underrated surf spot. How often dose this happen?

Brian Scott

What the new world to surfing and air’s is most don’t even know the technical terms to moves like this. Fortunately for me, with my background in skating & snowboarding, I not only know this grab, but I’ve lived here long enough to know that this kid throwing this down in this spot is so technical, it’s mind blowing what the youth is willing to do to prove themselves worthy in todays world.

Cover shots will now forever be a thing of the past (in terms of print) however, cover ups will live forever!

Brian Scott

What exactly were you doing at your favorite spot on this fabulous Friday?

Brian Scott

I’ll show you what Mikey was doing.
