Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, July 15, 2023

Josh S

Howdy viewers! I hope you’re having a great weekend! Here’s Saturday’s high flying surf report from Colorados.

Josh S

I used the phrase “high flying” for a reason! This dude, henceforth dubbed Mr. Backside Revo, was the shooting star of today’s high tide surf action.

Josh S

He was a man on a mission today! I think he went for no less than 10 backside air reverses during my window shooting today. The wind was blowing slightly from the East (Gigante direction) which is ideal for airs on the rights.

Josh S

I told you! Mr. Backside Revo would just project up off the lip, let the easterly wind catch underneath his board, start to shift over his front foot, and chuck his shoulders through the rotation wave after wave.

Josh S

I need to lose some weight and start stretching, so I can at least come close to being as agile as Mr. Backside Revo.

Josh S

Meanwhile down south there were some little rippers getting some bombs (for them haha). The dude at the shoulder showed the little man leeway which was the right move.

Josh S

Aaaayyyyy! Look at little man dance on rail! Textbook form on display with this roundhouse cutback.

Josh S

This was the little dude’s last wrap in his combo to close out this wave! Way to take this one to the sand little dude.

Josh S

Mr. Backside Revo opted for a stylish floater on this section. He got a pretty sick airdrop coming out of this one.

Josh S

Then back to his usual antics! You can see clearly in this frame how much he de-weights his back foot to enable max altitude.

Josh S

The only high tube that was had today! I glanced at the surf again this evening and there were some starting to roll through at sunset with the lower tide.

Josh S

Back down south the ripper girl from yesterday was out again and bashing lips! Looks like she got a party wave here with a (hopefully) amiga :)

Josh S

Then a roundhouse to stack some more points on this combo! This was one of the better shaped lefts I saw during my photo session. The wave had enough sections for 3 to 5 turns total.

Josh S

Mr. Backside Revo also can do frontside revos! Karate kicking the fins free on a fluffy end-section.

Josh S

That’s all of today’s surf action amigos! A beautiful day, but still no monster tubes! Hopefully you don’t want to burn me at the stake for flooding your feed with backside air reverses from our talented goofy-foot amigo! Today’s young rippers showcased that Colorados can also be fun for turns and airs even when the size is a bit lackluster. I believe the legendary Tony Z is back behind the lens tomorrow, so check back in to see what Sunday Funday brings :)
