Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, July 06, 2023

Josh S

Hola, hola everyone! Welcome to Thursday’s surf report coming your way from Playa Colorado. Josh here again with today’s action.

Josh S

The wind was a little wonky early this morning, but there were still some nuggets that came through while I was shooting. River-mouth right rider made himself easy to track with his neon yellow board.

Josh S

Ahhh, this is the view that we all dream of. Does it get any better than weaving through tubes as clean as this one?

Josh S

There was a lot of variance during my photo window this morning. Just as there were some beauties, such as two photos up, there were some bouncy, ripped up, and frothy ones. This photo doesn’t do this guy’s tube justice, in my opinion. He made a multi-section tube, but his wave just doesn’t qualify as aesthetically appealing as those emerald green cylinders.

Josh S

Since the wind was a little swirly this morning, we had a fair mix of both tubes and turns. This young shredder blasting his fins just through the top of the lip on this one.

Josh S

Most of you guys who monitor my report’s are likely familiar with Bauti (from Uruguay) by now. I’m pretty sure this is his dad. He paddled out today on his big longboard and had a sick takeoff on this bomb! Pretty impressive that he made this critical wave on a board with that much nose.

Josh S

The swarm of groms here couldn’t be shown up by their elders though! This chica got about as critical as possible on this back-side lip-smack! Get her on the QS haha!

Josh S

Bauti didn’t let his dad take all of the limelight today though! He found one of the cleaner rights further South. Bauti surfs with a very unique style, as he displayed here by dropping his lead hand all the way to his board’s deck in an effort to fold-up and get low.

Josh S

The Neon Right Rider back at it again! Just looking at this guy’s shot gets my spidey-senses tingling! It’s such an adrenaline rush when you drive into a real wide tube like this one.

Josh S

John Gillem got a stylish ride on this bomb down the beach. Holding it down out there for the long-boarders!

Josh S

It wasn’t all rainbows and unicorns out there though. This guy is about to experience the violent chiropractic adjustment of the Colorados free-fall to sandbar combo!

Josh S

I had a doppelganger out there this morning! Textbook pig-dog form on display here. I was fortunate enough to trade places with him later when I paddled out after shooting.

Josh S

He made it far on this right, but unfortunately she gobbled him up at the end. I bet he still thoroughly enjoyed this one from the extended tunnel vision he was able to enjoy.

Josh S

To close today’s surf action we have a stylish slash from a goofy-foot rider. I’d say he engaged the perfect part of his heel-side rail through this turn.

Josh S

Alrighty everyone, thanks for your time and attention! It was another fun and satisfying day in paradise here in Hacienda Iguana. Tubes, turns, and maybe some Toñas to close out the day? I’ll be on the report tomorrow as well, with more good to epic conditions projected by me (and Surfline). Have a good one and see you mañana!
