Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, July 05, 2023

Josh S

Oh yeah! Welcome to the Wednesday surf report from Colorados! Josh here back behind the lens bringing you today’s stellar conditions.

Josh S

It was pretty darn good out there this morning. Plenty of surfers and epic sets, which made my morning a lot easier :)

Josh S

This GoPro guy cleaned house out there this morning. You can’t tell from this photo, but this right was one of the better waves I saw today. He nailed the drop, stalled, then exited with speed and steeze.

Josh S

I surfed later today, but the morning window was definitely better. This gentleman capitalized on the wide standing room offered up by this cavern.

Josh S

It was a longer wait waayyy down South for the river-mouth rights, but they were some of the better waves when they did roll through.

Josh S

Ah yes... The slow burning pain in your veins of the “opportunity cost”. That’s the discomfort that spurs me on to ensure I get a clean takeoff next time.

Josh S

Oh man! My “go surf instinct” starting flaring up after I saw this guy make one of the larger set waves of the day. The right bent perfectly along the river-mouth and our surfer doggy-doored the exit just in the nick of time.

Josh S

Our GoPro surfer back at it on a long, multi-section left. I bet the POV clips from the GoPro were sick!

Josh S

I thought I saw the guy get clipped on the first section, but I decided to continue shooting anyways. Then almost by magic I saw the red rails of his board and his red board-shorts reappear at the end of the second section. Nice one amigo!

Josh S

Rights weren’t the only waves coming in down South. In fact, most of the waves hitting the Southern bar were lefts.

Josh S

Textbook form was on display from my goofy-foot brethren this morning. Drop the back knee, while pointing to the exit with one’s lead hand.

Josh S

Wow, it was pretty perfect out there this morning! One thing I find interesting in retrospect is how much more consistent the South peak was in the early morning as opposed to later this morning when I surfed.

Josh S

Although today’s surf action primarily consisted of tubes, I couldn’t leave this guy’s man-hack out of the report.

Josh S

Uh oh! Party waves on big days are no bueno! Please try not to drop in on big days as it can be very dangerous for the surfer that is deepest. Luckily these guys were fairly far apart. Colorados doing its best Pipeline impersonation here.

Josh S

This was one of the better lefts I saw this morning. I’d give this guy a 10/10 for perfect execution on this North peak gem.

Josh S

Steep, deep, round, then spit out! Boo yah!

Josh S

The wind was also pretty close to ideal this morning. It was slightly strong, but crisp which made for some cool back-spray!

Josh S

GoPro guy wrangling with this rip-current right. Of course, he won :)

Josh S

A nice side-ways slide to pump combo from this surfer on this beautiful right.

Josh S

Our hero, or Villain?, from the last surf shot of today is attempting to use the force on this right. Palpatine role play from Star Wars shooting the force lightning? I do that sometimes while surfing haha

Josh S

Thanks for stopping by everyone! It was an epic day of surf! Tomorrow looks like it will be really fun again. I’ll be behind the lens for the next few days, so I hope you’ll poke back in to see just how epic this week gets!
