Nicaragua Surf Report for Tuesday, May 08, 2018

Javier Baldovinos

Hey guys, how’s everyone doing today? Santana was no so clean as usual but the golden hour and the ambience at the beach was great.

Javier Baldovinos

The waves were rolling slow with small sections popping up once in a while.

Javier Baldovinos

But the “messy” conditions didn’t stop Etienne to go out and have some fun with the waves.

Javier Baldovinos

Darwin Jacamo was out too, he was the only one at first peak, always throwing a good show for his good looking spectators.

Javier Baldovinos

The norm today was small, soft turns, just enjoying the ride as much as possible.

Javier Baldovinos

Nice looking little green… sorry, orange board. He probably had a great time with it today.

Javier Baldovinos

The beach was full of women, some just enjoying the sun, some playing on the sand, and some others enjoying the sunset after surfing.

Javier Baldovinos

These girls were checking out not just the waves and the sunset though.

Javier Baldovinos

This guy wins the MVP today… it didn’t matter the weird conditions, he was seriously ripping on every wave and on every turn.

Javier Baldovinos

Powerful turn on a not-so-powerful wave. Great style with big spray… he definitely wins the MVP.

Javier Baldovinos

If you were lucky enough you could get one of these gems that went unridden because they broke outside catching everyone by surprise.

Javier Baldovinos

And talking about surprises… 7 months ago Tropical Storm Nate surprised everyone with a big flood that affected over 3,000 families, around 30% of the population of this area. Many homes were swept away and many others lost entire walls.

Many people are still living under the temporary makeshift, very hot, non-breathing plastic barriers. To add to these worrying conditions, rainy season is about to start again.

MOG (Missions of Grace), is a non-profit organization that has been working in this area for many years, mainly with Health-related programs but with plenty of experience on Disaster Reliefs too. As of now, MOG has aided in the reconstruction of seven homes, and have selected 14 more families to aid. BUT, MOG needs your help… each house costs between $800 and $1000 to rebuild.

Click here if you want to learn more about how to help rebuild these homes, any help is more than welcome!

Back to the water… the MVP kept surprising us with his maneuvers, hitting the lip with great control.

Javier Baldovinos

The conditions will improve in the next few days. Starting tomorrow a new swell will start filling in reaching its peak by around Sunday/Monday. Stay tune because it looks promising! Saludos!
