Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, January 05, 2024

Josh S

Happy Friday everyone! Golden hour (sunset) from Panga Drops coming your way. The waves were definitely smaller and gentler today, but at least the wind was lighter this evening than it was in the morning.

The beach peaks on either side of “main peak Pangas” were both running very fast. Robin is a light and quick guy, but even he had to pump hard to get down the line.

John decided to wipe the dust off the Ricky Carroll and smack this left lip shut! Ouch!

It looks like the other surfers weren’t safe from John either. How kind of John to offer a complimentary shower to this visiting surfer haha.

Now it’s time for today’s “10 point ride” from Asher Weitzen. Perfect form from Asher on this drawn-out bottom turn.

Josh S

The first section threw him a nice coping to work with, so he opted for a quick, well-timed tag/float across the section.

Josh S

Schwappah! He leveraged his speed coming out of the previous section into a sharp top-turn. This wave gave Asher plenty of opportunity and he took it to value-town.

Josh S

Two quick pumps, then BAM! To seal the deal Asher flew full speed into a critical end-section. That’s about as good as it gets for a small and crumbly day at Pangas.

Emma had to get her say in, and couldn’t let her dad (Asher) steal the whole show. Nothing too fancy on display, but a solid head-high drop for Emma who probably hasn’t been in the water for a while prior to this trip down.

Now you may understand why sunset here in Nica is referred to as "Golden Hour”! The sunset shines through the back of the waves, especially the rights, making for some good water barrel shots if the angle is correct. That’s all I’ve got for today, but it looks like we could see a little bump in the swell tomorrow, so be sure to stop back in.
