This Saturday, September 25, is International Coastal Cleanup day and Nicaragua is mobilizing. With the heavy rains lately rivers have been sending out garbage along with the regular flotsam of branches and silt that nature produces into the ocean and towards the beaches. So the coastline here is in more need of our assistance than usual. Armies of volunteers will descend on the coast this Saturday with the goal of collecting, recording, and removing trash there. We'll be doing our part in cooperation with other businesses, local and foreign residents, workers, and guests to make Playa Colorado sparkle from Rio Dulce to Los Perros. If you are around and would like to participate we'll be meeting at 7am on the road at the round-a-bout in the middle of the beach (behind Mark and Dave's Place).

The Ocean Conservancy is leading the effort to organize this event globally. To find out more or to see how you can get involved at your local beach visit their website www.oceanconservancy.org/cleanup
