Kitesurfing got your interest for here in Nica-Land?? Check out this cool video produced by Mr. Dario and some helpful Q&A he put together if you’re ever in Nicaragua and would like to try our kitesurfing OR the winds go onshore and you’re jonesing for a way to still get out in the ocean (or lake if need be).

Q: Can u kite in playa colorado or any ocean spot in nicaragua?

A: Yes, but its a mission, you either have to be the right day the right time in the months of may and october when the wind is onshore or hire a panga to go pick u up before u drift away to the open ocean (or your kite).

Q: Whats the closest and safest spot to practice or learn?

A: San jorge port in rivas is pretty decent and close by, there is a spot 20 min longer drive from rivas called "el menco" with a small kiting community on the weekends.

Q: How much is the cost of the course and how long does it take to learn?

A: So, usually kitesurfing courses are several days, depending on the conditions it can be from 5 to 8 hours for the basic course, i will try to do 2 days 3 hours a day. The cost will be 50$ an hour if payed for the whole course or 60$ if hire individual lessons. There will also be a cost for transportation depending on the spot we go to and the car we take.

Q: Are surfing skills useful in kitesurfing?

A: Yes, if u surf, the last part of the course should be a little easier, you can also use your regular surfboard as a kiteboad once you know what you are doing.

Q: Classes are for all ages and levels?

A: So, right now i have 3 kites so i think my range of students have to be from 45 kilos (100 pounds) to 90 kilos (200 pounds), i don't really have equipment for kids.

Q: When is the best moment to learn?

A: Right now! wind season is on and will be on until april, mornings are the best since the wind is steady, afternoons will be good for the first part of the course as well, week days are a little better than weekends because there is less people on the beach.

Q: Once i learn, what spots are the best to visit?

A: So, ometepe is defenetly one of the tripiests spots u can kite at, the volcano views and some of the private beaches are kitesurfing undiscovered paradise. Corn island is also a must if u live in nicaragua, the east coast in general can be great! And last, in costa rica there is a place by the boarder called Bahia Salinas that is the central america kite meca with the strongest winds and the flatest water.

Q: If i get u clients do i get commission? A: Of course, 10% Q: Is it fun?!? A: HELL YEAH!
